Personally I haven't seen countries or people benefit from gun rights
This is indeed my greatest point of contention. What benefit do gun rights bring? And I ask this seriously. And just like Human, did we can make direct comparisons to places with readily-available guns (pretty much just america) and places without.
The cons as I see it are thus: violent conflict is inevitable. With guns involved, it just makes people less likely to survive it. Also allowing guns means allowing gun-related accidents.
The pros are.... Well it can make certain people feel safer, even when in reality it doesn't make them many safer. I suppose one can argue there's a sort of artistic value in it too.
Well personally, I am all for minimizing government regulation on the whole, but one area in where it has been beneficial is with guns. To what degree is debatable.
The last bit you wrote is exactly why I want the right, or at least one of the bigger reasons. I simply do not want jack boot thugs to come in my residence with the threat of violence and to then disarm me telling me what i can and cannot own.
