Re: A personal belief that isn't often discussed

Two wolves and a sheep voting on dinner is democracy.

Making it direct democracy doesn’t solve that.

It is a risk but a strong constitution can largely mitigate that risk.
In Switzerland for example there are strong protections for minorities in the constitution, for example you couldn't vote ...

Re: A personal belief that isn't often discussed

I take it you mean true democracy is direct democracy (like what they have in Switzerland)?

Yes, direct democracy. I read an aricle recenntly that cross-referenced happiness index's with conflict index's with the level of citizen participation in democracy and there was a clear trend that ...

Re: A personal belief that isn't often discussed

And the book Home Deus extrapolates to the future and whether there will be any need for family at all as rights and responsibility to the state.
A baby is born and transfers to the state to raise, ensuring the child gets the correct education and provisions, freeing the parents to focus on being ...

A personal belief that isn't often discussed

One fundamental issue that I really believe is that the state has evolved along a line that is not democratic and overreaches what the state should be for.

The book Sapiens is an interesting read in that it charts the evolution of society and culture and how what we are experiencing today is an ...

Re: Should a new community form to split out from the LGBTQ+ community?

I like the idea of coalition building under the paraphilias label, joined with LGBT. That’s much more realistic bc allying with othered sexual attractions increases the chances of looking “acceptable” in contrast.

I like your suggestion, particuarly keeping it distinct from the LGBTQ community ...

Re: Accounts peddling child abuse content flood some X hashtags as safety partner cuts ties

I wouldn't form an opinion on this. The article is about a company selling a service to X and X apparently stopping payments to them. That could be for many reasons.

Maybe the software doesn't work as sold, so they're refusing to pay for something defective.
Maybe they've increased the cost per ...

Re: Should a new community form to split out from the LGBTQ+ community?

If you want to align with people, you should stop worrying about which part of what group has beef with other parts of the group. You're so caught up in minor conflicts within a big tent movement that you're failing to see what the movement has accomplished while highlighting internal and external ...

Re: 13-year old Brazilian girl rants about the age of consent

I read 13 year old Brazilian and opened this before reading the rest :D

Joking aside, she's brave but I'm sure it's a voice that represents many of her peers.

Building local communities

If you were to create a local community of maps, just there to connect and support each other, how would you go about it?
How would you reach out to fellow maps? How would you present it? How would you do it in a way that it's as safe as possible for members. It would never have a great endoresement ...

Re: Accounts peddling child abuse content flood some X hashtags as safety partner cuts ties

This seems really strange to me. Why would anybody post cp on X? That's one step away of sticking pictures in your home window.
Either there's a reason I don't know or it's my misunderstanding of what the definition is in terms of X. On X there are a lot of people into comics and ANIME so is this ...
