This is an easily debunked myth, among other easily debunked myths against pedophiles. It's an easy one to peddle but anyone who really stops to look at the argument finds it falls apart pretty quickly.

That is a very good way to put it.

This just smells of another power grab. Every online space is being targeted. Social media was first, then online backup services, cloud services, forums, games are bound to be a target. Mass surveillance and strict regulation of any online space where people meet in large numbers.
