Re: Is it possible to be a Pro-Contact MAP and still be a non-offending MAP?
The concept of 'non-offending pedophile' goes back to the 00s, when various people including myself were working hard to differentiate attraction from action. This work spawned the likes of VirPed (which was not so extreme in its earlier days) and the NOMAP movement. The ATC blog was a very early ...

Re: The message, messenger and shifting targets
Well, I'm kind of hanging on by a thread at the moment (I have issues that mean I have to depend on others), so I kind of have to take what I can get. I hope one day I'll have better options.
I'm really sorry to hear about the situation you're in. It takes strength to acknowledge where you are ...

Re: Is it possible to be a Pro-Contact MAP and still be a non-offending MAP?
BlueRibbon and Fragment already gave great answers.
We all know what we are talking about, but I would like just to point out that "non-offending" is by itself an inherently biased term. "Offense" to/for who?
Yes, exactly. Plenty of laws are inherently immoral. I've never placed any value ...

Re: Does stigmatising/treating MAP’s badly impact the protection of children/teens
So I think if those things didn't exist none of this would happen. But maybe it all comes for people thinking that being different is being wrong. And neither they want to respect differences.
Some people fear those who are different from themselves due to a lack of understanding and ...

Re: Call for Guest Blogs - Share your voice
I'm almost finished with mine! I just need to decide which responses to include — the replies I received after coming out. There are quite a few really good ones. BlueRibbon, I would really appreciate your help in choosing if you have some time to spare. I can upload them to imgbb and share the link ...

Re: Does stigmatising/treating MAP’s badly impact the protection of children/teens
Misconceptions are always the problem...
They sure are. If you look at it, there are many parallels between all marginalised communities. Misconceptions, stigma, social and institutionalised discrimination, lack of social support and other resources, lack of recognition and rights, heightened ...

Re: The message, messenger and shifting targets
I agree, to be honest. Probably symptomatic of my dysfunctional relationships that I'd call it empathy. I probably have unhealthily low expectations of others.
It's understandable to feel that way, especially if you've been through difficult relationships. Recognising it is a big step, and it ...

Re: The !Kung people's views on relationships and sexuality
It's nice to have another person who is interested in anthropology around here. A while ago I was thinking about writing an essay on how there are culturally different sexual habituses. I was really interested in how ideas of hygiene and purity contribute to uneasiness around sex, and how ...

I'd be posting on P Forum: Discussion forums for People and allies.
In all seriousness, I don't think I'd be doing anything different, except for dreading life a lot less.

Re: The message, messenger and shifting targets
A dark thought: I wonder if the reaction would have been different if their partner had been pro-contact or if they weren't ashamed of their attraction? I get anxious that empathy for MAPs is conditional on feeling self-hatred, sorry to bring it up.
If empathy is conditional, I wouldn't call it ...
