Re: The notion of MAPs as sadists
I meant regardless of whether they (the sadist) acts or just has the impulse or fantasy based on hurting someone. There is no behavioural test for being a sadist, outside of criminological categories, e.g. the idea that zoosadistic behaviour is a precursor to sadistic offending.
I can tell ...

Re: Pedophilia treatment for MAPs
I don't believe anyone is born with an AoA above 18, or a tiny minority of people are.
If numbers didn't exist, people would be attracted to people they just find attractive, often this would change over time for individuals. A 20 year old guy might be attracted to that 13 year old girl or that ...

I call them Teleiophiles. Though it excludes Gerontophiles. Maybe AAP (Adult Attracted Person) would do?Fragment wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 9:26 am “NOMAP” is still a fundamentally “defensive” position because you’re saying what you AREN’T, not what you ARE.

Re: Is it possible to be a Pro-Contact MAP and still be a non-offending MAP?
I think what may need to be emphasised is “being attracted to someone is not the same as abusing them.”
I thought Non-offending MAP’s is meant to make it clear that MAP’s are good people with no harmful intentions and respects laws (even if they don’t agree or find them unreasonable)
Right. I ...

Re: What would you be doing if you weren't a MAP?
I think I would be doing the same except being in the MAP Community and I would be with a Boyfriend or a Girlfriend. Who knows? If my sexual orientation were different maybe the gender of attraction would be different too.

Re: Is it possible to be a Pro-Contact MAP and still be a non-offending MAP?
The concept of 'non-offending pedophile' goes back to the 00s, when various people including myself were working hard to differentiate attraction from action. This work spawned the likes of VirPed (which was not so extreme in its earlier days) and the NOMAP movement. The ATC blog was a very early ...

Re: Does stigmatising/treating MAP’s badly impact the protection of children/teens
Misconceptions are always the problem...
They sure are. If you look at it, there are many parallels between all marginalised communities. Misconceptions, stigma, social and institutionalised discrimination, lack of social support and other resources, lack of recognition and rights, heightened ...
