Most MAP activist groups I encounter online are either from the Americas or from Europe.
Are there any MAP support or activist groups which are active in Asia? Particularly in China or the Indian subcontinent.
There are many LGBTQ groups out here. But I can't find any for MAPs.
How can we go about creating one? For most people here English is not their native language. Many can read English but have difficultly understanding English content. A decade back or so Internet connectivity and speed was an issue. It's not a problem anymore.
How can we connect with other MAPs out here who have trouble with English and feel left out?
How can we generate or properly translate MAP advocacy related literature in their native language?
I think the sooner we organize the better.
The public here thinks LGBTQ identities are a western import.
The LGBTQ community doesn't want anything to do with MAPs.
While the public has no idea that MAPs exist.
The basic needs and issues of MAPs are same everywhere.
We just need to create MAP advocacy material such that it is culturally relevant so even those MAPs who find it difficult to relate to the ideas feel welcome.

I am from China, but as far as I know, only a very few people in China know about the MAP movement, but there are no MAP-related organizations, and many MAPs in China do not know how to protect their rights.

I’m in Japan but Japanese people basically don’t do activism of any kind.
On the other hand protests usually consist of like 20 people, so a few MAPs might be able to have a disproportionate impact.
I’m not hopeful, though.

If only some people can have it, that's not happiness. That's just nonsense. Happiness is something anyone can have.

Have you considered doing these things yourself? You seem like you could be in a good position to do so.girllover wrote: Mon Jun 02, 2025 7:21 pm How can we go about creating one? How about creating a forum much like this one? Maybe even the admins of this site or another can even guide you through the steps of doing so if you ask.
How about you translate some of the articles and videoes around here. Then you could post them on that forum where people can see it.
These are not things that will be accomplished overnight, but we gotta start somewhere.

I'm based in Asia. However, I'm afraid of importing MAP identity politics because people here are quite naive, and I don't want to fracture that naivety.

Let's say you decide to start a MAP support group (just a support group, no activism) in China. Do you think other MAPs in China would join it? What about the Chinese government or the local authorities? Would they allow any such group to operate?White sea Snow Elf wrote: Mon Jun 02, 2025 8:48 pm I am from China, but as far as I know, only a very few people in China know about the MAP movement, but there are no MAP-related organizations, and many MAPs in China do not know how to protect their rights.
Sorry for such naive questions. I don't know much about China.
May be I am in a good position to do so. May be not.RoosterDance wrote: Mon Jun 02, 2025 11:39 pm Have you considered doing these things yourself? You seem like you could be in a good position to do so.
I can't just dip my toe in without first knowing that the water is not boiling hot.
I don't know the local situation or who the antis are out here.
How many of them are active and how they operate.
Moreover, I have zero experience in activism of any kind.
(It's not an issue. I can learn.)
The point is that I don't want to be that lone kitten who gleefully ventures out on the street. Meows. Only to get viciously attacked by a pack of stray dogs.
I agree.BLueRibbon wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 12:20 am I'm based in Asia. However, I'm afraid of importing MAP identity politics because people here are quite naive, and I don't want to fracture that naivety.
If you're a foreigner in Asia I'm not asking you to do any MAP activism locally. It would feel similar to what the Christian missionaries did.
But we need to start somewhere.
We have to sooner or later.

I actually tried to do this, but I failed... because the most obvious point is that I can't publicly recruit MAP to join my community, and the Chinese trolls are just as scary, they will even dig up your personal information (and you have to understand that China has a real-name system, and information confidentiality is very poor)girllover wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 7:57 amLet's say you decide to start a MAP support group (just a support group, no activism) in China. You mean not even on the global internet using VPN?White sea Snow Elf wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 8:31 amI actually tried to do this, but I failed... because the most obvious point is that I can't publicly recruit MAP to join my community, and the Chinese trolls are just as scary, they will even dig up your personal information (and you have to understand that China has a real-name system, and information confidentiality is very poor)girllover wrote: Tue Jun 03, 2025 7:57 amLet's say you decide to start a MAP support group (just a support group, no activism) in China. Or maybe with the help of a Chinese MAP who lives outside China or is not a Chinese citizen?
I was thinking of starting something like India China MAP Union (ICMU) for MAP support and activism in China and the Indian subcontinent.

Re: MAP support and activism in Asia
In short, it is impossible to establish any MAP organization and public website in China's firewall, so even if it can be done, this Chinese website can only be established abroad at most.girllover wrote: Mon Jun 02, 2025 7:21 pm You mean not even on the global internet using VPN?

This is the most critical problem. I hardly know any MAP who uses Chinese besides me, and those who do have no interest in establishing an organization.
