I honestly don’t know what’s going to happen now. With all the political unrest and troubles going on in Ecuador right now, and considering the way the Dutch government has treated Marthijn and Lesley from the start, I have a hard time believing they’ll actually be extradited. it’s very, very sad. Let’s just hope they find some strength in all of this.FairBlueLove wrote: Sat Aug 16, 2025 10:48 amWhat will happen now?JeroentheGoon wrote: Thu Aug 14, 2025 5:29 pm Hi all,
Today is a sad day. The person (Anton Dautzenberg) who has been covering the story of Marthijn and Lesley posted today that their appeal to the Supreme Court has been rejected. As far as I know, that was their last legal remedy in Ecuador.

I recently listened to a (old) podcast with Marthijn and Norbert, a lovely conversation, and I got the impression they are such beautiful persons. Knowing Marthijn is going through this fills me with such sadness...

It's a shame, but I reiterate the comments Brian made with respect to principled self-martyr type persons being a bad fit for a corrupt, developing world justice system that can be bought off by rich, depraved Westerners like Ballard.
Even after Ballard has been so wrecklessly sodomised by the American media and justice system, Ecuador is still his bitch, and Marthijn is still theirs. This says it all.
I'll probably be ceasing updates on the English translation of Anton's article, unless I get direct communication from any of the parties concerned, in which case I can make further anouncements via Yesmap.

@Jim
I received an email from Krumme13, and he pointed out that Dautzenberg his comments don’t really explain the whole legal process there. So I must say right now I don't really know where they stand.
I remember that during the first weeks there were some posts from Marthijn himself on BC, but I haven’t seen anything from him lately.
