SCM123ABC Banned [2 weeks, now permanent]

I've taken the step of banning SCM123ABC for two weeks for posting material that threatened to take the board in a disreputable direction and threaten our host. He will therefore not come off moderation, and we will be spared his further posts.

He also engaged in the encouragement of suicide and DM abuse. This is not a helpful individual, and he admits to being banned from other forums.

Mods are free to discuss the appropriateness of the ban, whether to relax it or make it permanent, which frankly I would support.

SCM123ABC is warned that creating a new account will lead to a permanent ban, and he will never come off moderation in any event.

Since the expiry of this ban, the user concerned has posted an unusually high frequency of material that has either zero coherency, replies only to itself, or violates existing rules against violent advocacy and endangerment of our host. During this time, he accidentally came off moderation, something that is perhaps regrettable.

Huge amounts of this material has been removed, and this has presented an unprecedented moderation challenge for our small team of volunteers, who are stakeholders whose interests we should be protecting. Like our regular users, we can not take their participation for granted, and this has to be weighed up when dealing with disruptive users like this.

The violating material on its own represents consecutive violations meriting a ban, but was posted within such a small window, we could not get warnings out in time. Of course, now, the user is warned.

We are in the process of discussing the user, and have placed them on moderation in the meantime, so board users can rest assured that none of their excess material will be unnecessarily impeding the user experience.
