Is it "typical" / "normal" to be an AAM?

Post by Phossu »

Thinking back to my experience as a minor, I was absolutely an AAM. I found many of the adults in my life sexually attractive, and would have jumped at the opportunity to have sex with these people. I always thought this was "normal", in that most people experienced attraction to adults as minors. Of course many things I thought were "normal" at that time are anything but.

So the question is, are most minors adult-attracted? Or are they a "sexual minority"?

It's also worth keeping in mind that even if it is typical to be an AAM, they can still be oppressed. Even if the overwhelming majority of minors are AAMs, these desires are still stigmatized.

Curious to hear the forum's thoughts.

An idea I toyed with was that just as we MAPs have an AoA, so do teleiophiles. It was in the context of people that say they couldn't understand why people found children attractive. A teleiophile might find a 16 year old attractive because she resembles an adult, just as a pedophile might find a 14 year old attractive because they resemble a child.
So, yeah, I think it is normal to have an ideal body type related to age.
Also, that could be part of why there's a stigma; people empathize with being attracted to someone older, but they retroactively feel disgusted at anyone that took an interest in them at the time, because once you reach the ideal age any interest in someone younger feels abhorrent. On a related note, a young woman that wants to be seen as mature, doesn't want to have a partner that's attracted to her because she looks younger, since it defeats part of the fantasy for her.

I assume the vast majority of minors (over the age of 6) are attracted to adults. If you're attracted to visibly pubescent/mature-looking teens and preteens I don't see how you could not be attracted to 'adults' (I think the most convenient age to mark adulthood might be either 16 or 18), even if you prefer preteens/people in their early teens (or people who look as though they're in that age range).

I don't ever remember making a distinction one way or the other. In and around the second grade I was attracted to some of the girls in my own age group and teenagers, from memory. As a teen I made no distinction one way or the other between teenage girls and women in their twenties and thirties (I can think of a couple of middle-aged women I was also attracted to). None of my friends or anyone I knew of were only attracted to teens or preteens (the attractive teacher/MILF/older woman fantasy seems to be almost universal to teenage boys).

I don't ever remember thinking about prepubescent girls sexually as a teen, although it's not as though I was commonly exposed to them. Even in my twenties, after my views on child-adult sex relaxed, I remember I often had difficulty thinking about them sexually (I guess it seemed implausible/unrealistic to me that they would have a sex drive), maybe a little less than I do now (the occassional girl in a movie or tv show or some form of media, although it's probably rare for me to find someone under 12, or maybe even 11, very attractive).

Not sure about children, but I remember quite well that, as teenagers, almost all of my classmates felt a very strong attraction to many famous actors and actresses, singers, even to some teachers in their 20s. Brad Pitt was about 40 years old at the time... all the 14 year old girls in my class they would have given everything they had to have sex with him, lol.

Many of my 5th grade girl students have pictures of young adult celebrities as wallpapers on their phones. Occasionally, they'll show me pictures of these young men, talking about how handsome they are, often while smoking hot 5th grade boys are in the very same room!

When I point out a sexy 5th grade boy*, they'll say the boy is gross. I'm sure the "eww, gross" is somewhat performative, but these girls are definitely attracted to adults.

* Commenting positively on a same-gender person's appearance is completely normal here.

I think its pretty normal for preteens and teens at least to have some attraction to adults.

If anything I was more interested in adults when I was a minor than I am now, weirdly enough

Yes of course. I’m not getting the current generation where it seems(?) more unusual to me attracted to adults as a child.

I remember my first adult crush... my 3rd grade teacher.

One day she leaned over in front of my desk to help me with something and I saw her cleavage and bra... I was hooked from there forward! lol

To answer the question.. YES. Perfectly normal for kids to find adults attractive.

As a young adult leading into now, I've garnered the affections of many a young cutie.
Perfectly normal.

I think it's pretty normal to have attractions to adults. By comparison, many people online and especially parents seem to think that their children are innocent angels with no desires even so after going through puberty.

Or that their attractions are abnormal and that they need therapy.

Again, these are mere assumptions and we can't just assume everyone is the same or has the same life experiences by a certain age.
