"That's a pedophile," the suspicions of the parents of the minors abused by Father Melis.

Father Andrea Melis was arrested in Genoa on charges of sexual violence against minors, boys he showered with gifts of various kinds - from electronic cigarettes to branded jackets, from beers to real money credited to Postepay - in exchange for kisses, caresses and intimacy. There are at least seven young people between 13 and 15 years old who gravitated around the 60-year-old man, not only parish priest of the community but also director of the elementary school and president of Fidae Ligure, or the federation of primary and secondary Catholic schools.

He was originally from Cagliari, but well inserted in the context and community of Genoa, where he had lived for years. Yet the parents had understood that something was wrong, and more than a few messages made us assume the priest's conduct.

There were already some suspicions surrounding the figure of the priest and this was confirmed by the warnings of a parent, the mother of one of the harassed children, who had ordered her son to stay away from Melis: "Be careful that he is a pedophile", reports the Corriere della Sera. But the boy went several times (about 10) to the Assorotti institute, where the priest taught music.

For three of the seven young people with whom Andrea Melis would have surrounded himself, between 13 and 15 years old, the facts are formally contested in the ordinance that orders house arrest, while the others must be ascertained. If on the one hand there remained a certain deference towards the 60-year-old, the man also presented himself as a friend, allowing the boys to do what the adults would not allow and thus winning their trust. No one, in fact, denounced. Not even the young man with whom he had a sexual relationship for three years.

But his parents did it, who discovered from a conversation between the two that their son's relationship with Andrea Melis was still ongoing. "Again" because doubts had been chasing for a long time, from that obsession that the priest seemed to have shown towards the young man, so much so that he covered him with expensive gifts and asked to take him with him on vacation in Sardinia. In high school, mom and dad had forbidden him to see the priest, but they had failed to make sure that he respected this ban.

Then Andrea Melis' message on the son's cell phone: "Thursday night we'll see each other and I'll kiss you... I can't take it anymore", and the parents' horror. The man tried to use his influence to convince the minors that there was nothing wrong with wanting some extra money and object, and that the parents were guilty of not giving them enough, what they needed. One of the young people, years before the arrest, had even warned him: "They know you're a pedophile, they'll come looking for you".

I think this is one example of the kind of relationship The Push creates.

Consensual relationships aren't permitted, so some MAPs use money and create a web of secrecy to hide their relationships to try to protect themselves from being found out and facing legal consequences.

When the parents find out, it blows up.
