A child sex abuser has had a second book binned by Amazon. Edinburgh-born Simon Carroll, 46, wrote Seriously Twisted Tales, which contained murder, body mutilation and sexual scenes.

The beast – jailed for four years for abusing two boys – used the pseudonym Simon Lang. It is the second book he has had removed by the online retail giant.

The Record revealed last month how his novel, Mini Monster Mystery: An Andrew Aims Adventure, was canned after his true identity was exposed. Victim Ross Thompson suffered severe trauma into adulthood which led to him losing his life after battling drugs.

Put that way, it sounds like the victim is a victim for having read the novel Mini Monster Mystery…

In any case, hasn’t the law determined that the penalty for his crime is prison? I don’t understand what Amazon has to do with any of this — is it somehow taking the place of the law?

I’m hopefully protecting others and stopping someone with that history profiting from children through their writing
Protecting others by... getting a book pulled? I find this framing funny though. Does this person consider any and all children's books "profiting from children through writing"?

It is very strange that because he's a pedophile then his book is pulled
Many people believe Lewis Carroll was a pedophile, so we should be pulling Alice in Wonderland from book shelves? This all sounds like the start of a new "burn the books" period of history.

Usually, historical works have special privileges. If we look at art in general, I think many works are still circulating only because they have historical value. If I’m not mistaken, there should be a painting whose subject is a dead prostitute pulled from a river. Luckily, on TikTok no one is interested in these things enough to start considering them problematic.

Well, maybe—now that I think about it—they have tried to “correct” some books with historical value. But I think rewriting is already slightly more acceptable than burning historical works; that feels far too much like religious extremism.
