I just had a conversation with Alex Renton a journalist known for his coverage of CSA, who is completing a book on the subject. Owing to the lack of activity in the community, some perspectives are still sought to round it off.
Everything appears to check out:
1. The book will be on humane approaches to dealing with attraction to minors and offending - for example, where image-based offenses are dealt with outside the criminal system in the Netherlands.
2. It will acknowledge the existence of pro-c perspectives, but not focus on them; the author is a CSA survivor.
I think the book will go similar places to the famous/controversial, but still prevention-led books by Goode, or Walker.
I asked Alex to create an account here, and share some contact details. I think he is going to want some non-typical perspectives on things like the Dunkelfeld program. Clearly, there is some kind of impasse with prevention programs - they are politically inconvenient (because they attack stigma), which means a journalist can either get access to individuals who are religiously in favor of it, or unreasonably against. Alex wants someone with direct experience of this kind of program.
I encouraged Alex to talk to Virped and at least someone on the B4U-ACT board - with the latter being the most interesting organization to speak to as it focuses on non-offenders and was founded by egosyntonic MAPs.

Re: Book by Alex Renton - Perspectives wanted
Thanks very much for the introduction. I have registered and I will post some questions in the hope of collecting views around various treatment and prevention programmes I have been looking at for this book. I am also interested in the policing of online and various ethical and practical problems that poses.

Welcome.
Despite my published concerns about your podcasts, I hope we can interact positively and productively here.
I've upgraded your account, so you won't need to wait for post approval from now on.

Thanks, both of you.
I've just posted one request for views on policing of online in the Research Center - I hope that's the right place.
Separately, I wanted to ask for anyone interested in sharing experiences or thoughts about Project Dunkelfeld, Stop It Now and other state-funded CBT-based programmes that are designed to support MAPs in non-offending, reduce stigmatisation - not sure where best to post that request.

I think we should use this forum - where it's less likely to get diluted in the rest of the forum.
I've actually forgotten whether or not this is a forum where only staff can post, but moved the thread.
Then, we should probably publish some kind of announcement on the main site - these get amplified on BoyChat - another major webforum. I don't see a problem with getting an announcement posted on Projects About Us or Seeking Research Participants (Virped forums, registered users only). I see researchers like Allyn Walker, Kailey Roche and Rebecca Lievesley posting regularly there, and some authors who are planning books. Virped is a highly active forum.
