I like this quote a lot because this is never said nor recognized by us pedos. I mean sure if you are seeking criminal activities then you try to hang out near schools, but pedos who want to stay within the law would actually try to distance themselves from places where they would look suspicious. I think sometimes we don't give ourselves enough credit that we are intelligent enough to socially know our way around in society.

As for Percy Shelley's statement where he states that "It seems like people have been watching a little too much Law and Order: SVU.", Really? Can we, as pedos, really afford to have a sarcastic tone when addressing people? We are treading a very fine line to be able to fend off attacks and win allies, so sounding condescending doesn't seem like a good approach, especially coming from a Communications Officer. A communications officer knows how to read the room and sends a message to placate people not enrage them to further ostracize us.

You've really got them digging up the mushrooms in the fairy-ring . . .after the fairies have gone? Before the weekend when the fairies were coming? It was never a questions of fairies at all, just a matter of tricking people into digging up the fairy-ring mushrooms in their own backyard, for no reason, out of fear of their own folk-lore?

The process of coming-to-visibility, for MAPS, as we watch it unfold in a succession of APPARENTLY MISGUIDED but actually HIGHLY CALIBRATED and HIGHLY COORDINATED actions like this one, MapCamp's fairy-ringing of Plainfield, is ESSENTIALLY a process of MAPS getting their rough edges more and more knocked off, as they lick their wounds after each bruising encounter with the outside, not-very-MAP-friendly, world. And it's that OFF-KNOCKING that I'm most excited about.

Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals. Of particular note is number 5. Using ridicule. If the other side is being ridiculous they deserve being ridiculed. There is no victory to be had with pure logic. They are working off emotion. If we laugh at them for being irrational a certain percentage of people will stop and ask what we find so funny. I’m willing to engage with people who have legitimate concerns, though. But if you read through the Twitter comments, those people are few and far between.

Also, it’s the media. Quotable things are quoted- not calm rhetoric. The most commonly quoted line from the MAP Camp material is a tongue in cheek joke about seeing “sexy children” while hiking. Extreme language boosts visibility so it does need to be used carefully. Otherwise you risk boosting the parts of your message that can be misinterpreted. But given the ridiculous myths around MAPs, I’m happy to boost language that points out how silly they’re being (while coupled with a calm explanation of how things actually are).
