Detailed mention about psychology of self-harm, (action itself is not in detail), just wanted to let anybody know incase this is a sensitive topic for some people, especially this community being heavily oppressed and many being mentally unwell, nothing to be ashamed of if you'd prefer to skip the spoiler

I think it depends on the mental state of the person, being a masochist and having a history of genuine self-harm, they are very different. Masochism brings me pleasure,
Spoiler!
while when I used to SH, it was very different and was to block out my emotions, which can be very damaging to one's brain, and I did it out of self-hatred and coping, rather than pleasure which usually makes me feel better and confident about myself
, the brain is really an interesting yet messed up thing

Another thing about seeing the replies have different opinions about whether the one in the role of being sadistic may be a touchy topic, I'd like to add in a big portion of the time the masochistic one is the one requesting the stuff to be done, and the one in the role of sadism is like "you sure you're okay with that?" Ofc not all the time, but many times. (My experience can also support this)

I honestly don't know what you mean. My tactic of encouraging people to seek out good and happy lives only works on simps. Do you mean that encouraging people to be happy requires someone to be simple to find happiness? Well I suppose I'd have to agree that it doesn't need to be over analysed, a good heart is enough to find love and happiness.
You don't even know what simp means.
I looked it up in the OED, It's a common US shortening of the word simpleton, a linguistic shortcut, how amusing. A word used by people who struggle with the queens English and resort to simple truncated terms, in this case a simpler way of saying simpleton. There is irony in that.
