Hi all!

Post by Phossu »

Hello everyone!

I'm Phossu. I'm new to online MAP spaces, first becoming active about a month ago.

I've been a MAP my whole life, but didn't realize it until I was an adult. It still took years after that point to stop hating myself over it. Currently I am liberated from shame, and it feels SO good.

My AoA is 6+, and my primary attraction is around 6-10. I am pansexual and love many people regardless of gender. I am also attracted to adults.

I've been told this space has a pro-c leaning, but Mu itself is neutral. Currently I don't assign any contact label to myself, as it seems the label itself is not nearly specific enough to describe anyone's opinion on the issue. However, if I had to make a statement I would consider myself anti-c in the sense that I'm highly skeptical of youth-involved relationships with large age gaps.

I pride myself in being unafraid of contrary opinions, so I figured I'd take a look at what this community is like. I want to see real, substantive change on MAP liberation within my lifetime, and currently I am familiarizing myself with the online MAP community and it's history. I want to see the broader MAP community grow and experience positive change, so that together we can be stronger than we ever could be alone and hiding.

Great to see you here, Phossu.

I'm starting to actually grow quite weary of contact labels. They often seem arbitrarily chosen and worn more like affiliations with sports teams. Sometimes they just seem to be talking past each other, too. An anti-c prison abolitionist is clearly not think about contact stance in the way a pro-c person who just wants punitive sentences reformed, for example. They are theoretically compatible stances, but the mindsets are fundamentally different.

Understanding the costs and benefits of the current regime and potential reform means looking at both pro-c and anti-c arguments. A holistic view seems necessary if we want to improve things for MAPs, minors and society in general.

I hope we can continue having dialogue and challenging each other, though (as frustrating as those debates may end up at times).
