A reminder on forum scope and expectations

Post by BLueRibbon »

These days we have a lot of people signing up from diverse MAP spaces. We welcome this. In fact, one of the main goals of MAP Union is bringing the community together. However, drawing from such a diverse background comes with inevitable misunderstandings over our expectations of posters. To avoid having your post edited or removed, please read the following.

Lolicon and Shotacon are technically child pornography in many jurisdictions

The legal status of lolicon and shotacon varies across jurisdictions, but there are many places in which it is illegal, even treated exactly the same as real child pornography. Our team does not agree with these laws on a philosophical level, but we are responsible for ensuring the safety of ourselves and our members. Therefore, you may not link to (nor refer to) sites that contain lolicon or shotacon.

No flirting with minors

Minors are allowed to participate on this site because we do not endorse a culture in which minors are treated as a distinct, subjugated class. Nonetheless, we cannot allow adults to engage in flirtatious behavior with those under the age of 18, nor can we offer a service that connects them for offsite communication. Attempting to subvert these rules may lead to account suspension.

This is an activist community

We welcome all kinds of posts that conform with the rules, but it's important to remember that this is an activist-oriented resource, not a place to come when you're horny.

Thank you for your attention.

We are aware at this point of the existence of offsite surveillance of this forum, and organized efforts to undermine its security by creating sock puppets (those attempting this believe their communication medium is secure - it isn't).

Readers can rest assured, this will not be seen as a threat to the security of the forum, as we have more than enough moderation capacity to cope with any attacks. There has also been no technical compromise of the forum itself.

It is understood that untoward users might attempt to impersonate:

a) Minors, particularly those attempting to communicate with adults...
b) MAPs whose behavior might bring the board into disrepute or stoke up division...

By repeatedly asking to engage in offsite communication with complete strangers, users may be attempting to undermine the rules and engineer an opening to compromise the board with illegal activity. Or to entrap existing users. These are behaviors we deem unfamiliar to relatively insecure media such as clear web applications, and highly suspicious, since they lack the reservation and self-respect we have become accustomed to.

Please assume that anything you post on this forum, including in the private sections, is publicly viewable to vigilante operations and cringe warriors.
