It’s a bit like when people call for rape to be punished with the same penalties as murder: in practice, at a certain point it would be in the rapist’s interest to kill the victim. Clearly, proportionality in sentencing has its usefulness in discouraging the escalation of such scenarios.

I find it weird how, even when some legislations allow it, someone else’s permission (from the parents) its needed before for a relationship, even when the child wants it. It’s almost as if children aren’t seen as human beings in this world.

That's the problem with punishment becomes disproportionate. It's like the three-strikes law in the United States where someone gets a life sentence for a third conviction even if it wouldn't normally lead to a life sentence, in which case if you're going to break the law a third time then it might as well be all out, there's no point getting life for something small.

But the case of statutory rape is a perfect example, if it's rape whether you have consent or not then why bother about consent? At this point it's just down to personal conviction, how important consent it personally, so it's a system that openly admits it just hopes that rapists will be nice people and not actually rape before they're convicted for it.
