Re: I don't understand why!
I support AAMs and MAPs. Personally I am a romantic GL but I support loving relationships between people from infants all the way up to the elderly.

Because they don't really care about any supposed harm towards kids. It's always been about vilifying an attraction they don't like.
That's why people hate and want(ed) to criminalize lolicon/shotacon and fictional CP. That's why in some countries, it's illegal to even write about it, nevermind draw it. That's why people very often get up in arms when they hear about an institution researching "treatment" methods, even if they're told it would result in fewer cases of AMSC.
It doesn't matter that it doesn't affect real children, and it certainly doesn't matter if it helps you cope or reduces the chances of you committing actual AMSC with a real child. What matters is that some people who felt icky when they saw that doll and imagined you might use it to masturbate, so it has to go.

I agree with most of what the other responses here have said. It's about persecution of the people they hate, there's no rational justification.
Usually when people advocating for cartoons or child sex dolls to be criminalized do bother providing a justification outside of personal disgust, it's just a bunch of word salad about "normalization", the new favorite thought terminating cliche buzzword of Antis on the internet. The argument is basically a kind of slippery slope fallacy, either that pedophiles having dolls and cartoons and stuff will lead them to them being more likely as individuals to molest children, or that widespread acceptance of pedophilic erotica/sex toys will lead to further societal normalization of pedophilia(something most Antis insist is already normalized somehow despite pedophiles being severely persecuted), which will ultimately lead to more kids being molested.
The first argument, that using cartoon child erotica or child sex dolls makes individual pedophiles more likely to touch real kids, is wholly unsubstantiated. There's just no evidence for it. If anything, the evidence points in the opposite direction(though it is still not conclusive either way). Widespread pornography usage and legalization is negatively correlated with sexual assault rates among regular adults.
As for the other argument regarding societal rather than individual normalization, I still think it's bullshit which misconstrues the causal relationship involved, but it's somewhat more viable at least. If you happen to believe that sex between children and adults is evil and you don't care about the rights of adults who are attracted to children because they are all also evil, then wanting to persecute them and prevent them from gaining mainstream sympathy or acceptance makes logical sense.
Of course, if you purport to care first and foremost about child welfare and believe preventing "CSA" should take priority over persecuting the people who disgust you, then it's probably not a very good argument any more. Because, again, pornography legalization and "normalization" is associated with a decrease in sexual assaults. Evidence specifically examining pedophile stuff like child sex dolls and cartoons is basically non-existent, but it's reasonable to assume that the same relationship probably holds. I.e., that legalizing child sex dolls and cartoon child erotica would likely either be neutral or lead to a moderate decrease in pedophiles seeking out real children for sex.
I don't usually bother engaging with the Antis who make these arguments though because they're rarely capable of good faith discussion. I try to avoid getting dragged into any moral or political discourse on social media in general. It's a huge waste of time.
