Why do people think pedophiles are sadistic?

I notice that most people think pedophiles (or MAPs in general) are sadistic and get off to the idea of abusing or hurting children and minors. I remember a Twitter blogger wrote about how she did a survey on pedophiles, most of them claimed to not be sexually aroused by cruelty, and people in the comments claimed the pedophiles were lying. It seems like people think that pedophilia is the desire of wanting power or control over a child rather than genuine love or sexual attraction. They think its impossible for an adult to feel love and attraction towards a child or minor the same way an adult would feel for another adult. Why is this?

Most actors in society love children or feel some kind of physical/affective attraction towards some child or minor.

Same actors, according to the social values they have imbibed, would never want this to be deemed pedophilic, as this would imply they, their families, their culture and values are pedophilic.

Therefore, the "pedophile" becomes a kind of toxic dumping ground, or "folk devil" for various prejudices about what is indecent interest in children.

Projection. Antis themselves display high levels of violence, racism and discrimination against minorities but project it to make their opponents like the deranged ones. Also possibly pathological wiring in the parental child loving areas of the brain, oxytocin receptors are corrupt and few, social areas defected and wired for pathological selfishness and antisocial behavior.

Because they only hear about the monsters that actually rape children against their will, and think we're all the same, but refuse to acknowledge that about 80% of those people aren't even MAPs at all but are simply sociopaths, that seek power over people, and children are easy targets.

I think it is easier for society to imagine us as monsters as it makes their treatment of us acceptable (in their minds anyway) and means they don't have to engage openly in discussions with us about what we actually believe about children, sexuality, consent etc. No one believes a monster to be capable of reason after all...

Because pedophile is a misused and misunderstood term.

Most people don't think about the subject very much but they hear terms such as child abuse and pedophile used interchangeably and so they think they mean the same thing. They don't of course and when people are engaged and allowed to think about what terms really mean, they do very often understand fairly quickly. It isn't that most people are anti-pedophile, I don't think they are, it's just that most people don't care enough to think about it. I think most normal people hate anti's even more than pedophiles because pedophiles are a group they don't get bothered by while anti's are loud mouthed idiots who just love to shout and create a scene which nobody wants to deal with.
