If you do stuff like this as a parent, then you may be teaching your child that respect and boundaries don't exist. That may have detrimental long term effects for them.
Sadly some parents wont even try or will just refuse because "you live under their roof" and "they own the house" etc. many just want total control at all times and if THEIR kid tried to tell them to knock or whatever then theyd laugh in their kids face.

Yea there's bad parents. You learn to control them or you get away to something else you can control. Whatever allows you to survive well enough.
