Paedophile who sent Huw Edwards child abuse images revealed

A picture of the man who sent indecent images of children to ex-BBC presenter Huw Edwards has been revealed for the first time.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed yesterday that the 25-year-old convicted paedophile was named Alex Williams.

An image of him has now been shared for the first time.

The Met Police said Williams, of Merthyr Tydfil, south Wales, pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing category A, B and C images as well as possessing prohibited images of children.

Williams was convicted of seven offences – receiving a 12-month suspended sentence on March 15.

The images Williams shared with Edwards on WhatsApp came to light during an unrelated investigation by South Wales Police.

According to MailOnline, Williams has ‘gone into hiding’, with his parents confirming to the publication that he no longer lives with them.

They also denied having knowledge that he was a sex offender, and claimed to be unaware that he was convicted of child pornography offences earlier this year.

His parents claimed to now have seen him for three or four months, though the publication claims neighbours said they saw him in the street within the last few weeks.

His mother also claimed to have no knowledge of a connection between Edwards and Williams.

Former BBC presenter Edwards’ – was previously the BBC’s highest-paid newsreader – case was then passed to the Metropolitan Police, who arrested the veteran TV presenter in November last year, and charged him in June.

On Wednesday, Edwards admitted three charges of ‘making’ indecent photographs after receiving the images from Williams.

He committed the three offences between December 2020 and April 2021.

Westminster Magistrates’ Court was told seven of the indecent images shared with the veteran broadcaster by Williams were of the most serious type.

The final indecent image was sent in August 2021, a category A film featuring a young boy, with the convicted paedophile telling the newsreader the child was ‘quite young looking’ and that he had more images which were illegal.

Edwards told him not to send any illegal images, the court was told.

No more were sent, and the pair continued to exchange legal pornographic images until April 2022.

Speaking in Edwards’ defence, his barrister Philip Evans KC said in court on Wednesday: ‘There’s no suggestion in this case that Mr Edwards has… in the traditional sense of the word, created any image of any sort.

‘It is important also to remember for context that devices, Mr Edwards’ devices, have been seized, have been searched, and there’s nothing in those devices.

‘It is only the images that are the subject of the charges that came via a WhatsApp chat.

‘Mr Edwards did not keep any images, did not send any to anyone else and did not and has not sought similar images from anywhere else.’

Mr Evans KC also said the broadcaster had ‘both mental and physical’ health issues.

He told the court: ‘It is obvious to the court, I’m sure, that Mr Edwards was not just of good character, but of exceptional character.’

Mr Evans said the court was aware of issues with Edwards’ health – ‘both mental and physical’.

Prosecuting Ian Hope told the court that a suspended sentence might be considered for Edwards.

Setting out the potential penalties under the law, he said that where there is the prospect of rehabilitation a community order and sexual offender treatment programme could be considered as alternatives to a custodial sentence.

Maybe I've misunderstood everything, but rehabilitated for what? Treated for what? If you fell asleep in a public place and someone took off your clothes, would you be engaging in problematic behavior (public indecency)? The whole point of rehabilitation or treatment is predicated on sexual offenses being intentional; you can't rehabilitate someone from a crime they don't intend. Another argument: if someone ends up running a red light because they've had a stroke, is it appropriate to think of that as "reckless driving"?
It looks like this is one of those places where the law fails to serve it's intended function.

Huw Edwards' lawyer should have cited Atkins v DPP (2001). Had he done this, he could have won. So why did he plead guilty? Did he just want it over with?

Being wrongly convicted of making indecent images of children is a poor person problem.

Romania: Cops Raid Andrew Tate’s Home Over “Trafficking of Minors” Allegations Following Anti-Jewish Statements

Masked armed police raided the Bucharest home of the misogynist social media influencer Andrew Tate on Wednesday amid fresh claims about trafficking and underage sex.

Police said officers conducted four searches as part of an investigation into alleged crimes including human trafficking and sex with a minor.

On Wednesday Romania’s anti-organised crime prosecuting unit Diicot said its officers conducted four home searches in Ilfov county and the Bucharest municipality.

It said the investigation concerned “a criminal case regarding the commission of the crimes of setting up an organised criminal group, trafficking of minors, human trafficking, sexual intercourse with a minor, influencing statements and money laundering”.

Several armed police wearing black balaclavas were photographed at Tate’s property. Two appeared to be carrying a battering ram to force entry.

Andrew Tate Now Under House Arrest For 30 Days, Romanian court orders: https://www.theguardian.com/news/articl ... or-30-days
A Romanian court has ordered Andrew Tate to be placed under house arrest, his representative said, after he was among six people taken into custody in an investigation into human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

The former professional kickboxer and his brother Tristan were among six people detained on Wednesday for an initial 24 hours after Romania’s anti-organised crime prosecuting unit, Diicot, conducted four house searches in Ilfov county and the Bucharest municipality.

Diicot asked the Bucharest court to arrest the Tate brothers for 30 days, but the judge decided to place Andrew Tate under house arrest and Tristan under judiciary control for that period, their representative Mateea Petrescu said on Thursday.

Before their latest detention the brothers had been subject to a travel ban, under which they were free to travel within Romania but not leave the country.

Diicot alleges that one of the defendants forced a 17-year-old minor to produce pornography in Britain and Romania, creating profits of $1.5m. It also alleges the same defendant repeatedly had sexual relations with a 15-year-old victim.

Apparently footage from years ago became viral following Tate's arrest, showing him being friendly with a young woman in Bucharest, with her joking about how she lost her fake ID card needed to enter some club. This is now being used by his detractors as evidence that Tate "groomed" one of his "victims".

As far as I know though, the "grooming" allegations seem to be new considering his lengthy case, and already looks suspicious as many of the "victims" have spoken in his favour. As for whether it's just political persecution by the US government by using Romania as a proxy, it's up to you to decide.

But you guys can feel free to use this as a mega thread for any Tate-related news pertaining to the dubious "human trafficking" allegations.

I think unfortunately most followers of Tate would engage in double-think about this. They'll excuse this behavior in Tate because they identify him, but it's not a consistent principle since they wouldn't excuse the same behavior in left-wing/establishment figures.
Also, Tate has admitted to scamming lonely men before. Getting them to sell their houses for the sake of his webcam models. So I think his behavior should be seen in this broader context of his disregard for morality. Even with the issue of the irrational hatred of MAPs, I think the authorities are right to throw the book at him. I recall people having plenty of problems with him before this issue of having had an underage girlfriend came to be a focal point of criticism.
