When it comes to phenotypic features that people have associated with races, I don't see any reason for people's bodily autonomy to be restricted. The same can be said of certain functional genes and specific family groups and small nations if gene modification becomes a thing, i.e. the insane increased lung capacity in some coastal fishing communities that evolved to support specialized hunting. As for ethnic identity, it's a complicated social thing but just like immigration and assimilation it's fine. I think in a racist and colonial context there's a lot of power structures that need deconstructed first to make it safe for everyone involved, and for cultures on the margins not to be flanderized and stereotyped, specifically I'm reminded of closed practices of indigenous religions. However, in the long term opening up traditions beyond blood or genetic heritage is a good thing, so while I don't have the slightest clue about the psychology involved, all the component parts of transracial identity all seem fine to me.
