They think it's something you purposefully choose. So in their eyes, they just protect them from making "that decision" and problem solved!

That really is how some parents and people who mentor minors or young adults see it. I've been subjected to conversion therapy type rhetoric from people were like that a few different times.

I started my life off by doing parkour professionally for about 12 years. One day I snapped my foot in half. Thinking Physical Therapy sounded boring, I just decided to disintegrate at home until the fracture healed. Well, the fracture did heal, unfortunately muscles and tendons don't heal the same way. So I switched gears and moved onto the Emergency Medical Field as an EMT. What was my first day on the road you may ask? Why yes, March 16, 2020; the day the COVID-19 lockdown started. Suffice to say, 5 years later I’m ready to move onto something new. I just finished my first semester in my cybersecurity major and am excited to move into the field of InfoSec and Penetration Testing.......
