According to an arrest affidavit, a student notified a counselor on Nov. 10 about an inappropriate sexual relationship with a former gym teacher, later identified as Whalin. The student was struggling with mental health issues in the 2023-2024 school year and Whalin begin offering support and hanging out after school in her office, the affidavit reads. Their bond "increased" and "they developed a relationship with one another," the document reads. It became sexual in April 2023. They also shared photos of each other and communicated over Snapchat. The relationship lasted more than a year, the affidavit reads.

The document says that Whalin drove the student to and from school for most of the relationship, and that the student's parents were not aware of it.

At some point, the student said they were interested in dating a classmate and broke off the relationship with Whalin, who "continued to drive near" the student's home and their "walking path to and from school," the affidavit reads. The student reported feeling fearful that they were being followed by Whalin, who they believed was "jealous" of the new relationship.

Prosecutors accused Bardin of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student at a juvenile detention center, where she was an English teacher. Bardin was also accused of soliciting the minor to kill her husband, but the jury acquitted her on that charge.

Jessica Bergmann, a 34-year-old math teacher at Washington Middle School in Aurora, Illinois, was arrested after police received a tip from neighbors last month that a now-17-year-old boy was frequently seen visiting her home, according to court documents obtained by the Daily Herald.

A Missouri teacher has been sentenced to prison for paying her underage students with cash, alcohol and marijuana in exchange for sex.

Carissa Smith, a former substitute teacher at Dixon Middle School in Dixon, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Nov. 19, as reported by local news outlet KRCG.

Smith, 30, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual contact with a student and one count of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child in September, per the outlet.

Smith's sentence includes six years in the Missouri Department of Corrections for the endangering the welfare of a child charge and two years for each sexual contact charge.

As previously reported, Smith was arrested in November 2024 and originally faced multiple felony charges, including statutory rape, sex trafficking, statutory sodomy, sexual contact with a student, hindering the prosecution of a felony and a charge for patronizing prostitution, according to court records.

A disgraced Maryland teacher who had sex with a teenage student nearly two-dozen times was slapped with a 30-year prison sentence – but will only serve one year behind bars for the crime.

Melissa Marie Curtis, 32, was handed the three-decade sentence with all but 12 months suspended for engaging in sexual acts with the 14-year-old while she was a teacher at Montgomery Village Middle School in 2015, Fox 5 DC reported.

Curtis — who was 22 at the time — had sexual intercourse with the minor more than 20 times between January and May 2015 — with illicit trysts occurring within the school, her car and several residences, including her mother’s home in Montgomery County, according to court documents obtained by the outlet.

BEND, Ore. (KTVZ) -- Sierra Stigall, a 22-year-old former La Pine Middle School volleyball coach, went before a judge on Monday at the Deschutes County Courthouse. Stigall faces a growing list of charges related to sexual abuse of minors, with a second alleged victim identified.

Stigall was originally charged with 20 counts in connection with alleged abuse of a boy under 14, covering incidents between May and July of this year. Though four of those counts were dropped prior to Monday's court appearance, authorities now say a second victim has been identified.

With the formal grand indictment on new charges including a second alleged victim filed Monday, Stigall now faces 39 counts --including multiple counts of rape and sexual abuse, luring a minor and online sexual corruption of a child. All are Class B or C felonies, except a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a minor.
