Rebecca Joynes was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison in 2024 after being found guilty of six sexual offences against two boys.
The offences related to two teens she met through her job as a teacher at a Greater Manchester school. She struck up a sexual relationship with one of her pupils (Boy A), and while she was suspended from her school, she embarked on another relationship with a second student (Boy B)and became pregnant with his child.
This week the spotlight shone once again on Joynes as a teaching profession conduct panel considering her case. Joynes, who is still behind bars, was invited to attend the remote hearing but refused to and didn't have anyone to represent her interests, the panel was told.
She chose instead to remain in prison - thought to be HMP Styal, just outside Manchester in Cheshire, which houses some of the region's most heavily convicted women and is classified as a closed prison, indicating a higher level of security.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office apprehended the 41-year-old in late November following accusations that she had engaged in severely inappropriate conduct towards a minor—specifically, her own son's friend.
These claims, detailed in the official police report, have shattered the perception of her online persona and brought her face-to-face with the law, being held on a substantial $100,000 bond.
