I am a 15 year old male who recently discovered I was an AAM. I was on a lolicon/shotacon discord server and I noticed the term AAM and I didn’t know what it meant but I assumed it was likely related to the term MAP which I was aware of the existence of so I googled ‘aam map wiki’ and found the https://wiki.yesmap.net/wiki/Main_Page page for Adult Attracted Minors. I went down a rabbit hole as I do with wikis. I went to the pages for Ephebophilia and Hebephilia which similar to MAP were terms I was familiar with and I read that both are evolutionarily normative adaptations, both involve attraction to reproductively viable individuals, that neither were even pathologized or in the DSM, neither were even widely accepted as being a paraphilia or mental disorder, and there isn’t any significant biological difference between a 16 year old and 19 year old and attraction to a 16 year old and 19 year old are psychologically the same thing. After reading the pages I realized that pretty much the whole mainstream narrative was wrong and I kept reading and I found out I was an AAM and attracted to older women (I was already looking at straight shotacon but at first I thought I was only attracted to fictional older women) and I found a link on the wiki that directed to this forum and decided to join because there are very few communities online and pretty much none irl where you can talk about this kind of stuff.

I know, it came as quite a shock to me as well to realize we've all been so thoroughly misguided this entire time. And its further upsetting to see so many others fall to this false narrative so hard. But we seek to make a difference here, and we're glad you've joined us.

I'm curious, were you taught to fear the "big scary pedophiles" in your earlier years?

As someone living in the post-1980s US, during my earlier years I was taught to fear that stuff but only really in the context of the usual “stranger danger” stuff. But the “groomer” and MAP backlash of 2017-2022 was when the fearmongering really ramped up for that kind of stuff.

How old are you again? 15? Or 51?

He just sounds very well-read. Which is impressive.

In other news, I've had some fulfilling relationships with older women myself. Some really know how to have fun, and yet can bring that tempered experience. In can be quite rewarding.
