Central Square, N.Y. — A Central New York high school teacher was arrested Thursday on sex charges involving children.
State Police arrested Nolan R. Ostrowski, 25, of Central Square, on Thursday for multiple sex charges, said Trooper Jennifer Jiron, a spokesperson for the State Police.
Ostrowski had been a teacher in the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown district for at least two years, according to payroll records. He was a music teacher.
Superintendent Naomi Ryfun sent a message to students saying the district was made aware of the incident involving a staff member at the junior-senior high school.

Ryfun said the staff member has been placed on administrative leave and the district is cooperating with authorities as they continue their investigation.
Jiron confirmed that Ostrowski was employed by the school district.
When asked if the children involved in the incident were students in the school district, Jiron declined to answer, saying it was an ongoing investigation.
State Police charged Ostrowski with promoting a sexual performance by a child, possession of sexual performance by a child, third-degree obscenity and public lewdness.

The investigation stemmed from a search warrant related to the transmission of child sexual exploitation material online, Jiron said.
Ostrowski was booked in the Oswego County jail Thursday evening, but he has been released.
