Email validation enabled

Dear all,
until now we had the policy to allow user registrations on this board without any further validation. The intention behind this was to help users who feared leaving traces when registering a mail address somewhere. Downside for us was that we always had a share of bot accounts that we had to clean up.
Today we got a complaint that someone was using someone else's email address to register on our board, and submit a post that, by hindsight, aimed to provoke and shed a bad light on the user.
As of now, email validation is enabled on the forum. People intending to become a member need to provide a valid email account to verify their account.
