An Act of Silence

So, I don't know if any of you guys are aware, or anyone at all in this entire world is aware, but there is a bill being passed that basically prohibits organizations that advocate for sexual interactions/relationships between minors and uses arguments against the age of consent. The bill is called S. 2062 that was introduced by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and this bill was either passed or I think first introduced on June 21, 2023, and says the following:
To prohibit United States contributions to international organizations that advocate for sexual activity by persons who are younger than the domestically prescribed minimum age of consent.
They then go on to say:
Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no assistance may be provided under this part to any international organization that supports, advocates for, or seeks to decriminalize sexual relations or sexual conduct by persons who are younger than the minimum age of consent (as defined by the national government of the country in which such persons reside), or condemns laws prohibiting such behavior; or any entity or organization that supports or advocates for the belief that sexual activity involving persons below the domestically prescribed minimum age of consent to sex may be consensual in fact even when it is not consensual under law; or that persons below the prescribed age of consent do not have the capacity to engage in consensual sex under any circumstance.
We all know what this is; an act of silence. I am not sure what the penalties are for organizations that advocate for such stuff, but judging from the bill itself, it seems to insinuate that there would be no assistance, more specifically, financial assistance for organizations who support such things. Here's the link to the bill: https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/BIL ... 2062is.pdf

Are you OK with us moving this to General MAP Discussion instead of the protected Politics board?

Yeah, I'm okay with that. I just thought this was the appropriate place to put this in since this had elements of politics and law. Just make sure you cite the original poster (that being me).

Well, hell. I am not always the biggest cheerleader for government funding anyhow. The organizations can still continue on with private funding. Plus, if you get government funding, you are the mercy of government. And who needs that?
