Registered US nonprofit: We prefer “Mutilating A Pedophile”

What restrictions are there on the behavior of nonprofits in the US? I seem to recall the regulations are very thin, such that this behavior would be permitted:
You can’t make up the acronym. They’re telling you exactly who they are.
Pedophiles are trying to rebrand their evil to “Minor Attracted Persons”. We prefer “Mutilating A Pedophile” but that’s just us.

This is disgusting. Even if there are regulations I wonder if there'd be any courts willing to rule that this is a breach of them.

Unfortunately, I don't think it's violating any laws.

Its a right wing group so I'm not surprised at the shit they are pushing. The irony about a lot these "groups" is they so against us MAP yet its people in these groups always seem to end getting arrested for SA'ing children or having PIM.

I'm thinking more about regulations determining what kind of political behavior is unbecoming of a charity. I understand the US has very relaxed laws around this.

No, a neo-Nazi group would not be eligible for 501(c)(3) status.
Here's why:
* **Hate Speech and Discrimination:** The IRS specifically prohibits granting tax-exempt status to organizations that promote hate speech, discrimination, or violence. Neo-Nazi groups inherently espouse these harmful ideologies.
* **Public Benefit:** A core requirement for 501(c)(3) status is that the organization must operate for the benefit of the public. Promoting hate and violence directly contradicts this requirement.
* **Political Activity:** While 501(c)(3) organizations can engage in some lobbying, they are strictly prohibited from engaging in political campaign activity. Neo-Nazi groups often have political agendas and seek to influence elections.
* **Private Inurement:** The IRS prohibits the use of non-profit funds for the private benefit of insiders. Neo-Nazi groups often operate for the benefit of their own members and leaders, rather than the public good.
**The IRS has a clear policy against granting tax-exempt status to organizations that promote hate speech and violence.** Even if a neo-Nazi group attempted to disguise its true nature, the IRS would likely investigate and deny their application.
It's important to remember that the IRS's decision is just one aspect of the legal landscape. State and local laws may also prohibit or restrict the activities of hate groups, and they may face legal challenges from civil rights organizations and individuals.
According to a chatbot. Unfortunately it doesn’t specify the laws in question. I’m not sure if the IRS would be the actual place to contact. But it’s a place to start.

Apparently it's
Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).
You don't have to prove that it's hateful for it to be violating that section.
Apparently that statement could be violating the section.
However, I think, based on following, they could defend themselves on the basis either that statement lacks direct incitement and/or dispute that the statement is literal.
Even if this example wouldn't quite fit, it's a good exercise, because now we will know what to look for. It's best to wait for a really strong example. If you tried this and it failed, organizations like that might start to become more careful and so we might end up missing an opportunity to set a legal precedent.

So are anonymous complaints possible, or is anyone willing to make a complaint using their real name?

I'm in favour of complaining.
I often report people who break rules by threatening to dox or hurt maps online and they're almost always punished. At the very least, rules and laws like that apply fairly. I think we ought to report to everywhere we can, including X itself or if they have a website we can report to their providers.
