If he is in jail, why does he need to be castrated? Surely he will be able to appeal that.

He took a plea. One that would have him spend the rest of his life in prison and be castrated. Pathetic.

As for why they want to castrate him even though he will never be released? It's because they enjoy torturing MAPs.
