His depraved crimes came to light when the girl's suspicious mother installed cameras in the house which recorded an incident, Leeds Crown Court heard.

Lewin, of Huddersfield, West Yorks., was arrested and bailed on the condition he did not contact the victim, but she was reported a missing person and found with him on Valentine's Day in 2024, the court was told.

He pleaded guilty to a catalogue of sex offences including sexual activity with a child and inciting a child to take part in sexual activity and was jailed for for 13 years.

The girl's mum bravely faced Lewin in court and told him he "stole her innocence". She said: "February 3, 2024, is a day I will never forget and the day any parent's worst nightmare came true. Twenty-one months of pure hell - I don't know if it will ever end.

"Every day I have battled through panic attacks, depression and thoughts of even taking my own life, so much so I have been medicated to help me cope, all while having to help my once-bubbly, caring daughter who has been turned into a broken mess, who is too scared to sleep because of nightmares due to this trauma.

Mitigating, Susannah Proctor told the court Lewin takes responsibility but said some sexual activity took place "in agreement". She said: "You will have seen in her interview she said she instigated it and she went first, and he kept asking if she was OK and she said: 'I said 'yes' because I was.'

'I still have that worry of looking over my shoulder, I still have to live a life sentence. He's sat in prison living his best life. I'm petrified for her future'
