the quote "everybody wants to change the world. everybody wants to change the world but nobody wants to die, wanna try" from Na Na Na by MCR perfectly describes why theres no activism, irl.

It's a catchy line, but I don't find it true. Sadly, many MAPs do want to die. We can see this by the exceedingly high depression and suicide rates among MAPs. But also, it is flawed logic to expect that if more MAPs martyred themselves in public activism, then the masses of normies would be moved to tears by their plight. In reality, much of society wants MAPs dead. Giving them what they want is not going to change anything. Ask the MAP activists who were outed in recent years, if their activism became 'more effective' after they were outed. More likely, their quality of life any employment prospects plummeted, they're now being harassed by police and vigilantes who know where they live, and many have consequently lost access to the children in their lives.TheHamilplexOfficial wrote: Fri Apr 03, 2026 12:54 pm the quote "everybody wants to change the world. everybody wants to change the world but nobody wants to die, wanna try" from Na Na Na by MCR perfectly describes why theres no activism, irl. I really dislike when people blame unsuccessful activism on 'cowardice,' whilst glorifying reckless acts as 'bravery.' Activists who publicly self-destruct in the name of 'bravery' win about as much public sympathy as suicide bombers. There is very little intelligent strategy behind running around and publicly ruining your life with self-sacrificing stunts. Think about it... This is an era where public surveillance is everywhere. Even in countries that reject CCTV surveillance, big tech does an even better job now that most neighborhoods have Amazon 'Ring' cameras everywhere with AI to enhance public footage. There is no way to post flyers with complete anonymity in public anymore. But there are numerous ways to maintain anonymity online while implementing strategies and getting the message out.
I think people need motivation and direction to innovate and strategise in new ways, more than 'bravery' to be pressured into some emotionally desperate stunt with no clear outcome.
In the absence of a clear blueprint, a good imagination is essential.
