You can drive, consent to sex with people within 4 years of your own age (legally) are a full conscience being capable of rational thought yet......your parents by the literal definition still fucking OWN you!!!!! Think about how insane that is! you have to be home when they tell you too, cant hang with friends if they say no, still vastly control what you eat, who you talk to, for girls especially fathers just go apeshit if their daughter has sex/wants to have sex they cannot fathom that an essentially biological adult wants to do adult things ya know....
I believe that if a teen wants to work full time doing whatever construction carpentry, be trained as an electrician and start their actual adult life early they should 100 percent be allowed to...BUT NO like others have said here you are actual property until the day you turn 18.....Sadly I do not see that changing anytime soon. Thoughts?

Well in some US states, the age of majority isn't until 19. One roadblock I do see (which can be fixed) is how school is structured. Most US students do not graduate until the age of 18/19. So there would need to be an accelerated pathway available at every single school that allows 16 year-olds to earn the credits to graduate. There is the option of emancipation. How about more education on it for 16 year-olds so they can file with the court for emancipation? Maybe create a network of lawyers that will do this advising and help file the paperwork pro bono. Use the system as is until something can be changed.

I disagree. The mere concept of an "age of majority" presents problems. It suggests that human beings are less deserving of rights and personal autonomy until they have lived a certain number of years. Therefore, it suggests that young people are less human. The Age of Majority is the primary barrier to youth rights. Lowering it to 16, or 14, or 12 is not enough.

I ALWAYS HAVE BEEN! Even when i was 12 to 17 i thought the rules around everything were soooo fucking stupid. like "ope cant do this ur just a child" and i always thought yo myself "WDYM im just a child I have full conscience thought like anyone else so why am i technically owned by a "higher" class of society....
A girl had an older BF she was like 16 he was like 19 or 20 and they refused to have any sex until she was of age too, i even thought that was the stupidest shit I ever heard, and pretty sure it was within 4 years so it was not even illegal. But nope everyone is so heavily indoctrinated and they themselves were so afraid of the "groomer" stigma that they refused lol, and that was YEARS ago.

Yeahhh but you still have to have a certain amount of discipline at younger ages to keep from raising actual demons don't you? I mean i guess their are certain ways to actually "parent" and teach a kid respect etc without being a literal tyrant like crap load of modern parents are?

The problem is, you're confusing these age-based restrictions as a form a "discipline". Yet not even the ones making these laws see it that way. They see it as a form of "protection".
Furthermore, while I can support the notion of not raising "actual demons" as you put it, how exactly does the concept of the age of majority contribute to that goal? Can you provide some more concrete examples? Because I personally don't see it.

So you believe that shouldn't be a "set adult age" in the first place but adult rights should come with maturity as no one matures at the same rate?

Almost. But personally, I think it's rather flawed to think of them as "adult" rights in the first place.

I think is bullshit that teens (or even just kids yes i know) are by definition property until 18 any, i feel like if I was under 18 again id ALWAYS be in a shit load of trouble for just saying fuck laws and fuck this and that lol.....
