WEBSTER — A year-long investigation culminated in the arrest of a Worcester man on charges of child enticement and threatening to commit a crime, authorities said Tuesday.
Jamie Klein, 36, was taken into custody around 6 a.m. on Sept. 17 at a Main Street apartment by a team comprising Webster Police Detectives, Worcester Police Officers, FBI Special Agents and Task Force Officers, and members of the Massachusetts State Police VFAS Unit.
The arrest warrant, issued by the Dudley District Court, charged Klein with enticing a child under 16 and two counts of threatening to commit a crime.
Police said they received multiple tips from August last year through this August, including 12 Cyber Tips from the Internet Crimes Against Children task force.
These tips came from individuals across the country alleging Klein was engaging in “grooming” children online.
Investigation revealed Klein made numerous social media posts about being in a relationship with a 15-year-old and solicited sex from someone he thought was 14, though the actual meeting never took place.
He also allegedly threatened a family residing in Webster.
Following his arrest, Klein appeared in Dudley District Court on Sept. 18, where he was held on $10,000 bail for the enticement charge, $2,500 on each threat charge, and had his bail for existing open charges revoked.
The ongoing investigation continues as authorities work to determine the full scope of Klein’s activities.
