A little while back I traveled to my dad's country, he suggested I try to volunteer with this organization he knew. He told me about the org and how they engage in initiatives meant to better the lives of children in this country. I was a little shocked, never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd ever get to work with/for children! I got in touch with them, got acquainted and they put me through the wringer (this was my first interview ever). Fast forward a couple months later and I fly out to a different state/province where I'll be positioned. It's all moving along so fast but I am glad I get to be involved in something that'll be of help to children.

My only hiccup now is the language barrier, very few people here speak English, it's all Arabic. I am making great strides in learning this language so I think I'll manage to get by.

That sounds amazing. Probably too much temptation for most of us . I'm a little curious though what is it you do exactly?

MAP friendly?

There's nothing better for a MAP than helping kids. I'm sure you'll be wonderful at it! You were made for this sort of thing.
How was the interview? Did you get any questions that made you nervous?
My first interview I was so scared for. They asked if I was "ok with kids" and I was so nervous about answering that I sputtered on like an idiot. They just wanted a yes/no answer. I was just nervous about my own reaction with kids that I would definitely be attracted to.
Good luck with Arabic! I've heard it's a challenge.

I wouldn't do anything to jeopardize my freedom and safety, there's way too much I want to learn and do. I think it'll be a great opportunity to improve my understanding of Arabic, I've taken quite the interest in the study of linguistics.

Is it really too much temptation, or has society gaslighted you into thinking that?

I wouldn't count on it. But I've noticed that the little ones are a lot more outgoing here; today I found a little group in my backyard picking strange fruit from the branches of a tree that fell that morning. Anyways I doubt I'll be in short supply of LFs here, is it strange that I quite like it when little girls speak Arabic .
