Influencer Sara Gilson shot dead after accusing husband of being a paedophile in TikTok trend

A parenting influencer was shot dead in an apparent murder suicide after she accused her husband of being a paedophile.
In a 15-second TikTok, Sara Gilson appears on camera and silently stares ahead.
Above her head is the wording: ‘Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a paedophile.’
The video refers to a trend in which people mimic the format of Netflix documentaries as though they are about to give a tell-all interview.
She is believed to have been shot dead by husband Jeremiah Duffey, 48, at their home in Owasso, Oklahoma, on Thursday – 12 days after sharing the video. Police think he then turned the gun on himself.
Police received a call at 11.15pm in which dispatchers heard a woman screaming and ‘what sounded to be a gunshot’.
They tried to call the number back, but got no answer.
Moments later, they received a call from their son who said his stepfather had shot his mother.
The couple had been separated since 2021 when she filed two protective orders against him.
Duffey had been on the run since a complaint was made against him by another parent on June 10 this year.
They alleged that he had groomed their 15-year-old daughter at a youth basketball team where he was a coach. It was alleged he had been caught by another coach kissing and touching the teenager.
She told her parents that he had invited her to his room during a tournament trip and offered her cash to ‘keep her quiet’.
Gilson took out an emergency protective order on the same day and he was ordered to stay 100 yards away from her at all times.
An online fundraiser which has raised more than £24,000 for Sara’s children described her as ‘an incredible mum who loved them fiercely, worked hard to provide for them and dreamed of giving them the best life possible.
‘Her children were the centre of her world. And everything she did was for them.’
