Being a pedophile

Post by Bluebird97 »

I'm picking my words very carefully and you should too. So let my start off saying this is all very hypothetical and i ask you don't admit to anything illegal. but it's something I've been thinking about after watching a YouTube video about porn addiction.

So basically the therapist was talking about a man with a severe porn addiction eventually started watching CP even though he claimed not to be a pedophile. The therapist also said this often happens with porn addicts.

So my question is do you think a guy could repeatedly watch CP and obviously orgasm to it and not be a pedophile?

I could see that happening where there is addiction.
When they become addicted it is about the dopamine pathways and all that. And each time something is "enough" they need "more". So I guess it becomes about the excitement and risk more than about being their natural attraction.

Yes, it's almost certainly the case that there are non-pedophiles out there who watch CP because they have a fetish for extreme/taboo/illegal content in general, like adrenaline junkies or people who find risky activities arousing, and not because they have a persistent and stable attraction to the actual subjects of the videos. Sexuality is complicated, there are all sorts of reasons someone might watch porn which centers individuals who they are not really attracted to in and of themselves. There might also be non-pedophiles who find it arousing to imagine themselves being the child in the video being "molested" by the adult, like straight men who watch teen boy/MILF porn or straight shota and self-insert.

I would have to assume non-pedophillic CP consumers are probably the minority though. Claiming you're a "porn addict" who fell into a rabbit hole of looking for darker and more extreme stuff is a more sympathetic defense than admitting to being a pedophile, I guess. Pedophile is an identity which brands you for life, but "porn addiction" is something that happens to you rather than defining you, so there's more psychological appeal to telling yourself you're only suffering from some kind of addiction and not fundamentally a pedophile at your core. Maybe there are more of them when it comes to cartoon CP(shota/loli), but even then I think genuine pedo or hebephiles are probably the vast majority of regular consumers. Especially for the more realistic and explicitly child-coded sholicon. Exceptions do exist, but most people who deny having any persistent attraction to irl children despite watching fiction CP frequently are probably just in denial about it.

I doubt most members of the general public would care to accept this level of nuance though. If you watch CP for any reason whatsoever you're an evil pedo as far as antis are concerned.

Also, I just want to point out that porn addiction is a dramatically overblown phenomenon and it's debatable whether compulsive routine porn usage should even fall under the category of an addiction at all. Looking at porn frequently is not intrinsically harmful. Often the only difference between the majority of self described porn addicts and regular porn users is that people who call themselves porn addicts tend to feel guilty about it because their values conflict with their behaviors. If a member of a religion which forbids pork consumption can't help but break the prohibition and succumb to the temptation to eat bacon every now and then, would you call it a bacon addiction? Or would you just say that they lack the self control to align their behaviors with their values, and this inner conflict is what is causing them distress? Obviously it's the latter. If you feel compelled to gamble or shoot up heroin frequently, that makes you a gambling addict or a heroin addict. If you feel compelled to jack off, have sex, or look at porn frequently, that makes you a normal human being with a healthy libido. Wanting to do heroin or gamble all of the time is not a typical part of adult human development which occurs naturally. Being horny and wanting to find an outlet for your horniness is.

Yes , of course

Most charged with relations with children aren't 'pedophiles' in the traditional sense either.

The same applies to videos. Its the taboo for some people.

That being said dont feel any shame about it. Its a natural part of life to enjoy sex and by extension porn, its hard to embrace this sort of sexuality in today's day but youre not hurting anyone by doing so. Yes this also applies to 'real' CP. The myth of 'it harms victims' is still prominent today but adult porn stars also regret their films at times- it doesnt mean they have the right to take that away from sites and people who are interested in this material, if anything it helps others with their sexuality
