Given that moral panics eventually wane and fade over time, how many years or decades will pedo-hysteria last until not only it weakens but becomes unsustainable?

I only hope we can do something so it doesn't become entrenched like homophobia for the past 700 years or so. Fortunately pedo hysteria doesn't have a religion so powerful and dogmatic as christianity to rely upon.

Roughly 33.5 years, depending on your interpretation of what a hysteria is. Some kinds of legal enforcement can outlive the peak of the hysteria.

The last phase of the panic (where commentators focused on theorizing that pedophilia was finally being normalized) began around 2020. These waves can last around 4 decades, or as little as 2.

The political state of pedophiles, and the disposition of politically aware pedophiles mirrors the situation of homosexuals in pre-war western societies, as do professional opinions. Note how it took a further 2-4 decades for a mass movement of homosexuals to form. Legal reforms were slow moving in the following decades.

Latency is important.

Once the panic is confronted with a period of latency, a major headwind is removed for the movement and its proxies to drive social change. You can see this with homosexuals from the 1960s and 1970s.

It will persist until MAPs fight back strong enough, that means it could last either 15 years or eternally depending on how MAPs react

This is we arnt even in "pedo hysteria" rn we are in "anyone under 18 is an innocent angel that can't decide to have sex or consent" hysteria ATP.
