Murderer of registered child sex offender arrested

Wanted to share this recent classic case of someone hunting down a registered child sex offender and murdering them. Punishment is likely death penalty or life imprisonment.
What I find notable is that the murderer tried to cover it up, and was entirely premeditated. Police acted entirely responsibly with strict justice, meanwhile public response is just met with a bunch of people lauding the murderer for his actions.
I'll share the details I gathered, which show the exact moral nature of the murder. The murder happened in March 2026.

Lucas Jones, the perpetrator
Lucas Jones, 19 yo, was arrested for first-degree premeditated murder, along with dismemberment and disposal of the body of 28 yo Colie Daniel, who was a registered sex offender. As far as I understand, this allegedly happened after he discovered Colie through a dating app and had been sexually flirting with him through messages. The two met up, leading to the killing.
Lucas is currently in jail, awaiting trial. His charge of first-degree murder is a capital felony in Florida, making him eligible for the death penalty if the court decides it. If he doesn't receive death penalty, he would receive life imprisonment, ineligible for parole.
I'm no legal expert, but this is my reasoning to believe the above to be the case:
The murder is a capital felony due to the premeditated nature (Florida Statutes § 782.04). I find this unlikely to be overturned, as Lucas: afterwards allegedly told his girlfriend he killed Daniel because he was a sex offender; had a folder with printed profiles of 3 local sex offenders; tried to cover it up with extensive chemical cleanup attempts, as well as hiding the body; and allegedly coached his girlfriend how to hide this from police, along with researching body language and how to conceal deception.
The maximum punishment is death penalty, the minimum is life imprisonment ineligible for parole (Florida Statutes § 775.082). According to (Florida Statutes § 921.141), the court may impose a sentence of death if the jury unanimously finds at least one aggravating factor beyond a reasonable doubt:
ㅤㅤㅤㅤ(i) The capital felony was a homicide and was committed in a cold, calculated, and premeditated manner without any pretense of moral or legal justification.
However mitigating factors may offset this.
Colie Daniel, the victim
So, what was the heinous nature that elicited this response?
Colie was indeed a registered sex offender. His sexual offense was committed 9 years prior to the murder, at which time he was found guilty and sentenced to 5 years of probation.
The victim of his sexual offense was a boy, between the ages of 12-15. According to the victim, Colie had found the boy on the street peeing behind a business. Colie grabbed the boy by the arms so he couldn't pull away, then kneeled down and sucked the boy's penis for a couple seconds, before the boy managed to pull up his pants and run away.
The boy was found running down the street crying. He described having been startled by having his arms grabbed, and being hurt by the sexual actions of Colie.
My opinion
I have no sympathy for Colie's actions towards that child. What he did was not just illegal, but wrong, forceful and hurtful towards the child. In that moment, it seems to me he was merely focused on opportunistically fulfilling an impulsive and selfish urge.
Colie never did plead guilty. He was arrested through a warrant issued for him. After sufficient evidence was proposed, he entered a plea of no contest in exchange for 5 years of probation as punishment, because it was in his best interest. Therefore my impression is that Colie likely would've attempted to hide his actions if he weren't caught, not suggesting to me that he was morally upstanding.
However, Colie served his punishment. He had no other incidents (excl. a few traffic offenses and occasionally forgetting to register) for the 9 following years leading up to his murder. His internet activity was closely monitored, and he needed a court order just to sell photography on the internet. Nothing tells me that he was still an active threat.
If one doesn't believe Colie's punishment to be enough, then that's the justice system's fault, not Colie's.
Even though what Colie did was wrong, and likely affected that child still to this day and onwards, it does not justify murdering him. Nothing could justify that. Even Colie's own parents were deeply disturbed hearing of it.
People say the law failed. But Colie was convicted. The law attempted to prevent further incident and make him into a more upstanding individual, which seemed to be working.
Even if that were not the case, if he couldn't function in society, it's up to the law and official decision to take care of him. Whether that be living in prison, it's better than taking his life away from him. I understand that there's disgust, I understand protecting children, but I don't approve of murder as a solution.
