From r/QueerTheory.
Some of them have nice insights, others are pretty regressive and denialists about similarities.
It's nice to see, however, since you can understand different perspective about the topic.
In the end, i think most of them are afraid of the links between MAPs and queer studies.

"Pedophelia is a psychiatric disorder - not part of the queer-community"

Huh, I guess if this person would read a little about what things were like a little over 30 years ago they would realize how ironic this is.

They’re trying to whitewash their past because they know that queer theory is rooted in pedophilia.

Well, I wouldn't say that it is rooted in it But many MAPS have certainly contributed to it.

The actual English definition of the word queer is to mean something strange or odd. It was originally applied to non-straight people to describe 'strange' and 'odd' sexuality. It was then adopted as a term by LGBT people as an all-encompassing 'something that isn't straight or cis' term.

Pedophilia absolutely falls under its umbrella, and this is just the typical pointless semantics debates you see in modern queer theory; in an attempt to whitewash their past, as others have put.

At the very least we can joke by pretending they are actually on our side! After all, if our sexuality is not 'queer', then it is neither strange nor odd; making it technically more normal than anything described as queer.
