Controversies
Cuties review
Max posted a positive review of the extremely controversial Netflix film Cuties. In the video he said that the film "does a pretty good job" of making the child actors "look hot". Many people believe that he is a pedophile at least partially because of that statement. He called Cuties a "solid film" and "better than most films". The video, along with his channel, has been deleted, but it can be viewed on his website, and it was reuploaded.[3] The video was mass disliked, receiving responses from YouTubers from all sorts of styles. However, Max denied that he was a pedophile or predator, and refused to apologize for the video, even trying to get the video back up after YouTube terminated it. Diesel patches' response video noted that Max didn't remember details of the film (for example, he referred to a character as Ami's father, when he was actually her cousin), which strengthened the belief that Max only watched it for the children.[20]

mrgirl has been a pretty big influence on me, I like the way he gets people to slow down and think about things that make them uncomfortable (but not in the edgy utilitarian way). Like him pointing out that society is having one big "I'm not a pedophile" contest, it gets at something psychological, that the Trolley problem doesn't. It's a shame he got removed from Youtube.

If someone likes to look at attractive people, it does not make them rapists. If a person watches Playboy or porn, it also does not mean that he wants to rape someone. Everyone agrees with this. But for some reason, when it comes to attractive minors, people's minds immediately turn off and hysteria turns on.

Ya I like a lot of what he does. In my experience a lot of MAPs are not fans of him. Like they think he makes us look bad I think.

I think what he does aims at something beyond MAPs and that's what makes him off putting to most people. Like he's always willing to make himself look worse in the eyes of others, kind of like the ultimate opponent of what social media makes people into. Feels liberating to me.
To be clear, I don't think he's a MAP. I think you have to look at how pedophilia makes the average person feel in order to understand what he's getting at. He's discussed suicide, saying the n-word, empathizing with mass shooters, and so on. Pedophilia is just another thing that makes people uncomfortable, and I think that's where the disappointment comes from - you, as a MAP, want him to also be a MAP, but he isn't. He's trying to take our perspective because it's something the average person doesn't talk about.
