Still inwardly proud.
I know what it means to be a map. To me it means I notice kids, listen to them, empathise with them, care for them more than many non-maps. I see kids as whole people, people worthy of listening to and respecting.
I see many non-maps who have no time for kids, get annoyed by them, consider them unworthy of having a voice or opinion, see them as annoyances. I've had a few parents say they like how patient I am with kids and how I have a way of clicking with them and bringing out the best in them. My own kids always tell me about things going on in their lives but are less open to their mother and my wife knows it and will ask me to talk to the kids when she wants them to do something and knows they'll fight and resist her. I've told her many times that it's just about talking to them respectfully, reasoning with them and explaining why they should do something rather than barking orders ladened with threats and consequences.
I believe that being a map makes me a better parent for the above reason and a better friend and guardian for kids. I feel that's a great gift from God and something to be proud of.
But I'm not outwardly proud about it because the world hates maps and would hate anything positive that a map could offer.

I am very proud to be a map because it allows me to love and respect children in ways that most people could never dare to.
I wonder if those who say they are simply unashamed are missing the point of pride. To me, pride isn't about elevating yourself above others or taking credit for something that you have no agency in. To me, it's about pushing back against the constant flood of hate and misinformation about us. It isn't enough to not hate ourselves. If we want to fight for our rights and prove to the world that we deserve respect and equality, then we have to find the good in our unique kind of love. I challenge those of you who've read this far into the thread to find one quality about your youth-love that brings joy to you or the people around you. I'm sure there's something.

Not proud it's more excited to tell people online what I am and what I like. Shame and guilt gone now after long years of being attracted to girls it gets me excited telling i love little girls and I like the words pedophile and hebephile I like how they make me feel
