Confused about Rule 5

Isn't the whole point of a community to gather and find and support one another?

I respectfully want to ask in which way we are allowed to reach out to another , if at all. Because being locked here feels a bit like being stuck in a camp.

And I have another question!

I see "activism" threads. So basically you want to change the law? How? And who could be a leading figure for freedom of all people?

Thanks!

Exactly!!! That's what I'm trying to say every time, not claiming it is but it honestly feels like a kind of controlled opposition. An activist web where people can't organize???? It makes absolutely no sense!

I get that it is for the safety of it against being related to ilegal activity, but damn, a lot (if not most) of us actually want to change those laws and make it no longer ilegal. And a lot of us have demanded that this policy is changed a few times already.

And for those higher-ups who want change in society (as I know BlueRibbon and I'm pretty sure JimBurton are), let me ask you a question: What will bring greater change: an organized movement being created in person in multiple countries, even if the web itself is blocked, or just a lethargic forum on the fringes of the internet that moves on without doing anything outside it?

It's reputation based. If you're posting consistently, and not trying to skirt the line about NSFW/illegal content, then once we've gotten to know you, you'll be fine.

You've answered your own question. Sites like these get shut down over illegal activity, so it pays to be cautious.

Sad about the no NSFW but I guess there are other places for fictional NSFW.

Users who are off their moderation period (roughly 20 posts, but might vary in individual cases) can request to place an offsite contact or social in their signature etc. We will grant this on the basis of not being a troll, or looking to engage in illicit activity, and will in some cases invite to a private rocketchat server where community administration happens between the less dramatic individuals in our community.

The lack of DMs outside user-moderator communication is to ensure we can always answer the question "can you account for all the communications on MAP Forum" in the affirmative, while respecting user privacy.

An idea where trusted users are given access to a semi-private DM feature (where moderators are permitted to view messages) is under discussion.

It does feel like a good idea to have a place to talk and vent, but it's not OUT THERE changing anything, and if it did, it would just get shut down and we'd be back here again or in secluded forums and encrypted messaging apps......

Until the law somehow changes, AoC is lowered, etc. we're going to be stuck this way. Unfortunately getting the laws to change is heavy business and not many are willing or capable of upholding that kind of war against the legal system and an angry mob of a public outrage.
