What's with the deletions?

Loss of context

Mass-blanking ones posts after others have put in the effort to respond to them is a very rude thing to do. It is effectively like vandalizing the thread.

Now we don't know what the posts responded to if it wasn't quoted. The context is lost.

Users are permitted to do it, though, but this does not effect direct quotes.

Personally, I would have all posts self-lock after a week. I'm not sure if there is a way of doing this.

After such a thoughtful and helpful discussion I'm more concerned about the *why* behind their deletion. I hope things are well with the OP, though I agree maybe a self-locking mechanism for posts would be good for archival purposes. Concerns about privacy in case of username leaks (the only logical reason I can think of to allow mass self deletion) might be better achieved by dming an admin.

I just set an editing and deletion limit of 5 days on all posts for regular users.

This is probably in line with what others would want, but we may change this if moderators have other ideas.
