Re: POLL: Should there be a Sex Offender Register?

You can go to prison for murder and be out in a surprisingly short amount of time, and not be subject to any kind of registry. You could be arrested for domestic violence against your partner, or physical child abuse, and as long as there was no sexual element you aren't subject to a registry.

You ...

Re: The Ukrainian Parliament is to vote on a draft lowering the legal age for marriage to 14 years old

At that point why not just lower it to 14 completely? Right now, doesn't that just... encourage teen pregnancy? If you have two 15 year olds that want to get married but have to wait until 18 and they then find out they can do it early if they get pregnant, they might just go ahead and try to get ...

Re: Peter-Pan Paedo leads boy on DEBAUCHED train journey to London

Giggie went on to sexually assault two teenage boys, the first by placing his head on a 14-year-old boy's thigh and the second by "spooning" a 13-year-old

Doesn't sound like sexual assault to me. Sounds kind of romantic.

No you see, I was brutally raped in a similar manner once. I was on ...

Re: Anyone else hate when people say "you don't know what it's like having kids" when parents act out?

There's a lot of people who clearly don't like kids having lots of kids. If only we had a group of people in society that are more likely to be able to bond with kids while lacking the necessary desires to reproduce themselves so they could put more attention towards kids whose parents aren't ...

Re: Mu Reviews: Real Journalism by Karl Andersson

It's always interesting to see when someone's identity is seen as a sign that they're 'biased' on the subject they're discussing and when it's seen as a sign that they're being objective and unbiased.

It's a tricky one to comment on. By all means, someone's identity can absolutely influence ...

Re: Molly Russell's dad says under-16 social media ban would be wrong

Multiple charities in the UK including the NSPCC have came out and said they don't think it would be a good idea. It's just that people in the UK don't really care about children as much as they pretend to.

Re: Dear Annie: My dad wants me to sugar-coat his friend’s child sexual abuse conviction

I love that the first line of the response is "Your dad has put you in a tough spot". She hasn't been put in any spot. The dad is making his own decision on who he wants to associate with, and is clearly steadfast in his decision seeing as he's been friends with him for 20 years.

Re: News Report treats 17 year old as property, sex offender involved

"I believe the parents or whoever is in charge of the group home said, 'I don't want you here no more,' so the male juvenile went to work, made a phone call, got picked up and left," said Sgt. Estrada.

"As a reasonable adult, you should know to report this to law enforcement, given that he is ...

Re: Voting age reduction is not liberation

Emma Goldman predicted correctly that voting rights would not liberate women.

Emma Goldman was an anarchist that didn't just argue that women's suffrage wouldn't lead to liberation; she argued against the participation in politics from anyone period, including men.

I don't think it's ...

Re: Voting age reduction is not liberation

I think focusing on the outcome of a reduced voting age in terms of policy is problematic when we're thinking of liberation. When debates around whether women should be allowed to vote were happening, would it have been rational to argue it's not a step in women's liberation just because polls ...
