Why do so many “youth rights activist” believe in youth rights except for when it comes to youth bodily autonomy?

A place to talk about Minor-Attracted People, and MAP/AAM-related issues. The attraction itself, associated paraphilia/identities and AMSC/AMSR (Adult-Minor Sexual Contact and Relations).

Why do so many “youth rights activist” believe in youth rights except for when it comes to youth bodily autonomy?

Post by G@yWad69 »

Why am I seeing so many hypocritical “youth rights activists” who claim that minors deserve bodily autonomy and are smart enough to make their own descions in life but only if its the age group that adults say their allowed to date and that minors are too stupid to make their own sexual decisions. Which is it? Pick a side. Either minors are smart enough to make their own descions and ahould have bodily autonomy which INCLUDES sexual autonomy and the right to date older adults or they are too stupid to make their own descions and dont deserve bodily autonomy, yet so many “activists” claim that both are true at the same time. It pisses me off to no end. They hate pedophiles more than they care about youth autonomy, and they have the AUDACITY to call themselves “activists” for having the same milk toast opinion on youth rights as every other anti. I keep seeing this bullshit take on tumblr which seems to be the cesspool for hypocritical bullshit anti C ideas. Reddits r/youthrights is “slightly” better but not by much

They've seen past the "minors are dumb" narrative, but are still suckered by the "sex is evil" narrative.

Probably, it's more like they think there are lots of 'evil' people having sex.
If minors are allowed to have sex then they would soon move on to having sex with 'evil' adults. And it's difficult to control a sexually active teenager.
Most of the society considers sex as an adults only activity.
By that logic, anyone who ever had sex is considered an adult.

Is there a threat to their role as youth rights activists if they support minors having sex?
Or are they scared that the society would think they are closeted pedos if they support it?

Sometimes, the hypocrisy is so explicit that it is shocking.

I remember reading one of these anti-C "youth right activists" that "increasing the sexual availability of minors to adults is completely contrary to youth libertation".

Availability. He used the word AVAILABILITY. Imagine declaring yourself a youth right activist and believing that young people are so totally devoid of will, autonomy, thoughts and desires of their own that you refer to them with the same word you would use for a product on a supermarket shelf.

The simple fact is that you need to choose between liberation and protection. You can never maximize both.

It's the same problem with something like sex work. Liberalization can lead, to some degree, to exploitation. Yet either people have control of their body and can make the choice to sell it (even if it's a bad choice) or they don't.

The same when it comes to the sale of blood or organs.

Or even things like religion- freedom of belief comes with the risk that some people get trapped in cult-like organizations as a result of those beliefs.

If you don't support youth sexual rights, then you're in favor of "child protection" not "youth rights".

And no. "But youth aren't punished for having sex with adults" is not an argument.

That'd be like saying "youth have the right to work, but adults who employ them should be imprisoned" or "youth have the right to drink, but adults that sell them alcohol should be punished".
I'm not saying that all scoutmasters are pedophiles. I might be saying that the best ones are.

The biggest reason that youth rights activists are so difficult with sexuality is that they're trying too hard to avoid appearing as predatory. It's extremely easy to take a big list of rights that youth should have — "The right to vote; the right to drive; the right to choose their education; the right to work... the right to have sex" — and have all of their opponents focus on that last part, accusing them of being predators, completely derailing the conversation.

It'll be some time before youth rights activists have a space where they can be more open with promoting youth sexuality as normal.

I think youth rights activists need to recognize that their goals align with ours in more ways than they believe. Overwhelmingly, oppression of youth is fueled by hatred and fear of us. The irrational manifestation of a ghost that's going to kill your child's soul because they want to touch them — social media bans for young people are fueled by it; the increase in overprotective behavior from parents and schools is fueled by it, and so on. If youth sexuality is normalized and the 'pedo panic' is attacked, they'd be seeing significant improvements in youth rights.
