Everyone knows im a MAP where I live. It sucks. I’ve been called a predator, threatened with violence multiple times and can’t go anywhere without people pointing me out.
I’m being treated like an RSO even though I’ve never been arrested or charged with a crime. The constant surveillance, both online and offline , is disproportionate to what happened last year, people I stared at some kids in public.
Apparently this will be the rest of my life for years to come.

Hi there.. it's a very lonely and anxious place to be in your situation. I'm glad to see you reaching out to a place where you'll find love and acceptance.Officerkrupke wrote: Sun Jun 29, 2025 3:19 pm Everyone knows im a MAP where I live. It sucks. Do you feel like sharing more details of your story? (Those that won't pose you any further risk or threat)
What were the details of the situation? Did someone call the police on you?
Were you at a park? Was it in the news paper? Was it a very small town? Do you have any friends or family to trust and support you?
It sounds like a pretty dramatic response for simply "looking" .. were there any words exchanged?
You said they know you're a Map... How would they know? Or is that just an assumption?
Please feel free to share what you can.... I'm actually dealing with a similar situation.. different, but some similarities. I've planned on making a post about it when I get some time.

I was walking a date with a guy when it happened, last summer, in late July.Justincredible wrote: Sun Jun 29, 2025 3:41 pmHi there.. it's a very lonely and anxious place to be in your situation. I don’t know how they know but they do. Plus other stuff I posted online about.
I was in a shopping district walking around when I stared at the kids. Not in the newspaper, just people talking about it all the time in public. I have some friends and live with a family member.
No words were exchanged. My entire neighborhood and city know I’m a pedo and comment on it everyday.

Couldn't you quietly delete your stuff and move somewhere far away?

I asked most of my posts to be hidden but the damage is done. I don’t have enough money saved up yet.PorcelainLark wrote: Sun Jun 29, 2025 6:58 pm Couldn't you quietly delete your stuff and move somewhere far away?

Have you considered you might be engaged in a pattern of paranoid and conspiratorial thinking?

Sorry but it’s the truth. At this point I might even need to change my name.Jim Burton wrote: Sun Jun 29, 2025 8:36 pm Have you considered you might be engaged in a pattern of paranoid and conspiratorial thinking?

Could you work from home until you've saved up enough money?Officerkrupke wrote: Sun Jun 29, 2025 7:30 pm I asked most of my posts to be hidden but the damage is done. I don’t have enough money saved up yet.

If you have no criminal record you have nothing to stop you from moving internationally.
If you move somewhere in Asia, for example, and leave your online presence behind, then it's almost never going to come up again. Not even if you have stuff linked to your real name.
Until then? Endure. You have multiple clear paths to things getting better. Hold onto them.
How do you react to people's accusations? Deny them, or lean into them? Perhaps when people are pointing at you, you can approach them and ask if they'd like to talk? If you're threatened with violence and haven't done anything illegal, then you're the one that could call the police.
I don't think I'd let myself be victimized in your situation. Facing prison I've had to be compliant, though, because the system itself is against me.

I'm not saying that all scoutmasters are pedophiles. I might be saying that the best ones are.

You might be feeling it more than it really is. I mean I used to work with a guy who got into trouble flashing at a school and everyone knew it and people would rib him about it but it was seen more as harmless banter and humour. He might have felt it as more but actually he was a popular person in the workplace and no one really meant anything more than laddish banter about it. The point being that in your position it's natural to feel it and to conjur up images of what people might be thinking or saying, but it might in fact be less terrible than you think.
But if it's really impacting you, you can talk to people here including me, many of us have gone through similar things to one degree or another and so understand what it can feel like.
If it's really impacting you then maybe a move would be a good idea. You know, a move can be an opportunity. A fresh start is an opportunity to almost design the life you want and go for it. A new place, new friends, new hobbies, new interests, new career. Moving can be scary but if it's fear driving you to move then it might be worth thinking about. You could move somewhere and embrace your map side or start a new life to suppress it.
Or stay where you are and use that fear to drive you to success where you are. Try to ignore the world and focus on better things, such as studying or a new career or hobby. Just don't let it push you down.
