Artificial intelligence will increase images of child pornography

A place to talk about MAP/AAM-related issues in general. This includes the attraction itself, associated paraphilia/identities and AMSC/AMSR (Adult-Minor Sexual Contact and Relations).

Which if they are not real fucking children should not be a fucking crime.
Good luck trying to sell that idea. That particular ship sailed decades ago.

Next-up, I suppose, will be the criminialisation of AI-generated text despite the fact these text stories are generated by a computer (AI), as opposed to being written by a human being. If you think this is far-fetched, don't.

Just before Christmas 2023, a UK-based poster to the alt.sex.stories.discussion newsgroup going by the name Jaxah had his home raided; he was arrested. This particular individual had been hosting a copy of the Alt Sex Stories Text Repository (ASSTR), which was a collection of tens of thousands of sex stories written by numerous authors. If I am not mistaken, some of these authors had written materials involving sexual activity with children. I believe Frank McCoy's works were included in this collection; so were many stories that were hosted by Thomas Alan Arthur a.k.a. Mr. Double.

Jaxah made these files available as a .torrent file for anyone to download at their leisure. He later returned to the newsgroup to report he had been arrested, and his server(s) seized. He said he was being charged with 'child pornography'. Unfortunately, there was no opportunity to question him to glean more details, as he never returned.

Well we just have to turn the ship around, don't we. Or accept our ever increasing oppression and ride the ship all the way to the gas chambers. It's really a binary set of choices.

As far as I know, there is no law against written CP in the UK. Was he charged under obscenity laws?

No, that's not what I am arguing at all. My position is (and always has been) as follows:

* Know the laws in your jurisdiction; what you don't know CAN hurt you.

* Don't make it easy for the bastards to locate you; don't use your real name, and don't use a traceable email address.

* Host your materials on the Darkweb.

Witness Frank McCoy being arrested, prosecuted and jailed for breaking a 130-year-old law that almost no one had ever heard of. Frank was an activist, of sorts -- he wanted to overturn Miller v. California, which case defines obscenity law in the United States. Frank made absolutely NO effort to conceal his real identity, making it trivial for the state to locate and apprehend him. Frank forgot (or never realized) that the first duty of an activist is to SURVIVE. Frank's efforts backfired big-time -- instead of overturning Miller, his case only made things worse -- his case established precedent for the application of obscenity law to text-only materials.

If Frank had taken measures to conceal his identity, he could have continued to publish his works, and edit others to this day. He could have thumbed his nose at the authorities, and there would have been sweet bugger-all they could have done to stop him. In the end, they not only silenced him, they killed him. (Frank died of Covid-19, contracted in prison.)

The same is true of Jaxah in the UK. He made himself easy to find, and he got busted.

With Thomas Alan Arthur (Mr. Double) and Ron Kuhlmeyer the government of the U.S. actually used the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (with the Netherlands and Belize, respectively) to prosecute these cases. This shows the lengths they're willing to go to, to shut people up -- all these cases involved text-only stories.

He said he was charged with "CP" which I presume means child pornography. I don't know anything further, unfortunately.

Although apparently unrelated, any number of boards which allow story posting have stopped accepting works with characters depicted under the age of 18. Kristen's board is one that immediately comes to mind. A number of boards have been taken offline by their hosting providers due to their hosting of 'underage' materials. I know Kristen's board only got their service reinstated when they promised to ban works with underage characters.

The problem isnt that it's CP - it's not.

The problem is that we don't know how to combat using AI to generate deepfakes (whether nudes or unsavoury audio that makes a person look bad). If I'm 12 and someone extorts me using deepfakes then I'd feel both livid and depressed. If I'm 22 and someone extorts me using deepfakes...then I'd feel livid and depressed!

We'll need better rules, guardrails, and tools to combat using AI to harm others. Ages are unimportant here

Criminals are already using AI tools to commit crimes ranging from online fraud and cyber attacks to the creation of explicit images of minors, Europol warned.
In a 37-page report, the agency claimed that there are already reports of "AI-generated and AI-assisted child sexual abuse material".
"The use of AI, which allows abusers to generate and alter child pornography material, is set to proliferate further in the near future," warned the Hague-based agency.
AI-generated pornographic images "increase the amount of illicit material in circulation and complicate the identification of victims and perpetrators".
More than 30 million children were victims of sexual exploitation and abuse on the internet last year, according to an investigation by the British University of Edinburgh in May.

The crimes range from so-called sextortion, in which criminals demand money from victims to keep images private, to abuse by AI to create deepfakes, videos that are not real, according to the Childlight Global Safety Institute program.
The rise of AI has led to growing fears around the world about the possibility of its malicious use.

"The volume of self-generated sexual material now constitutes a significant and growing part of the child sexual abuse material available online," Europol said.
"Even if the content is entirely artificial and does not represent a real victim, AI-generated child pornography material continues to contribute to the objectification and sexualization of children," it warned.
ADOLESCENTS ARE NOT CHILDREN.. THIS IS A SCIENTIFIC FACT YOU MORONS.
Sadly, the authorities simply do not care. Some years back there was criticism of the Canadian child pornography legislation (which is unbelievably overbroad). The critics stated (correctly) that these laws were not based on any scientific, factual basis. The response that they got was that Parliament has the authority to pass laws, and there is no requirement that these laws be based on any scientific basis. The facts simply don't matter to them.

These bastards really show their true colors when they hunt people for AI.
The language used by the IWF leadership to describe MAPs sure sounds like hate speech. Certainly it would be considered so if used to describe a religious, ethnic, or gay community. Why is it not challenged as defamatory hate speech in a court of law?

One reason they can get away with it is that they, usually, aren't referring to people on the basis of their sexuality, but their actions.

It's actually the one time that the "attraction doesn't equal action" actually comes back to hurt us. Anyone making offensive comments can simply say "I'm not talking about MAPs, just the people that offend".

Of course, even if they were talking about MAPs we're not at the point yet where society would care.
