But honestly I have no clue, I would guess its because boys look almost identical to girls before puberty, but adult men look completely different than adult women, so its easier to switch between both sexes before puberty

Idk, i am trying to think of a reason but I genuinely dont get why, if anything it should be the other way around right? However, I read a research article that said the percentage of boy loving pedophiles is equal to the percentage of girl loving pedophiles. So it still shouldnt cause a big difference. Maybe its because boys are sexier so we want to talk about them more? Lol idk im just joking

Perhaps it has something to do with BLs being part of the homosexual community before being more firmly ostracized. Could have maybe created more of an activist bent and tendency towards building community.

Could have something to do with how the spaces are policed and attacked by law enforcement.

Could be that many GLs can skate by in more mainstream circles thanks to the focus beauty standards for women have on youth.

Obviously I have no idea, but it's an interesting phenomena to consider.

I often theorize that it is indeed because there was less need for GL activism back in the day. Up until quite recently, it wasn't seen as unusual for an adult man to love a teenage girl. Which is why you can see many such age gap relationships among the older generation today. There was the law against it, but not nearly as much social stigma. Homosexuality was the big boogey man of that day. And I believe that lingered right up until the advent of the internet. After all, gay marriage wasn't legalized until the mid 2000s.

Of course, adult females are not factored into this equation because it was (and still sort of is) widely believed that females are too pure and innocent to be capable of such vile perversions.
